"Emil Fehling, 89, of Lodi [CA], died Feb. 16 in Stockton following a lengthy illness. He was born Aug. 5, 1916, in Kuhm, N.D.
Mr. Fehling moved at the age of one with his family to San Joaquin County, and was raised in Stockton. He married Vera in 1961 and they made their home in Stockton before relocating to Lodi. He was employed by the San Joaquin County Mosquito Abatement for over 18 years until his retirement in 1978. He was a former member of the Appaloosa Horse Club in Ceres. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed fishing, hunting and riding and raising horses. He and his wife enjoyed many sports together including hunting in various western states.
He is survived by his wife, Vera Fehling, of Lodi; daughter, Sandra Dietz, of Brookings, Ore.; sisters, Clara Liele, of Riddle, Ore. and Joyce Meredith, of Stockton; and brother, Clarence Fehling, of Lodi.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Herbert, John, Albert and Arthur Fehling; and sister, Lillie Miller.
A private cryptside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Temple of Memories at Cherokee Memorial Park, Highway 99 and Harney Lane, Lodi, with Pastor William Crabtree of Emanuel Lutheran Church officiating.
In lieu of flowers, emeorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Aid Society of Northern California, 105 S. Washington St., Lodi, CA 95240; or to Emanuel Lutheran Church, 1540 W. Lodi Ave., Lodi, CA 95242.
Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements."
