My data shows her as daughter of Roy McKinley Fehr and Erna Emma Klopping in Pottawattamie County Iowa. I found the family in the 1930 census for James, Pottawattamie, Iowa minus Rosemary who should have been 2 or 3 at that time. She later married Robert Stanton Karr of Center Township, Sioux County, Iowa (my relative). Her three older sibling were listed in the census but not her. I checks all grand parents in the 1930 census and she didn't turn up there. I hate loose ends and want to find where she was in the 1930 census. Russ

She married a Gerhart and moved to Pennsylvania (Danville) in the early 1800s I believe. I think her name was Dorothea (Dorothy) and her husband's name was Heinrich (Henry) Gerhart. I'd appreciate any help if anyone has any clues.

Is Fehr a shortened form of Fehrenbach?

I have a g-g-grandfather, Solomon Ferbach, who settled in Pittsburgh in the mid 1800's. I have had a *very* hard time finding any clue to who his parents might have been. I have been searching for ten years, and there is nothing more I have found but that he was born in Baden around 1833.

In Pittsburgh, he married Josephine Piffer, and the had children: Joseph, John, Albert, Katherine, William, Marie, and perhaps one or two more. (Albert was from a previous marriage, perhaps with an Elizabeth or Marie Gesler)

In desperation, I am searching for more name variations. I noticed on this board that some of your Fehrs are from Pittsburgh. Does anyone have a Solomon in their Fehr line? Through my research I have concluded that Solomon's name was originally Fehrenbach or Fehrenbacher. Is Fehr a shortened form of Fehrenbach?

Thanks!
Sally

In looking over old papers written in German, the name Heinrich was noticed, so probably this was a relative still in Switzerland after Johan had arrived in America before 1880.

Johan (Johannes) FEHR died in Independence, MO in 1901.
He had m. Minnie (Sohn?) and had 5 children:
Mary, Ann, Frances, John, and Henry.

He was living in Switzerland and was possibly an orphan from Flaach before coming to America. He was probably b. ca. 1830's

. He is likely to have had 7 siblings, and his mother's maiden name might have been Fisler.

Mena (Minna) was from Hamburg, Germany and was probably b. ca. 1850's. She had a daughter Liz by a previous marriage, who accompanied her from Hamburg, Germany.

Please respond if you can help. Thanks, Judith
