Re: Farm Family Feick Steinau Germany

My mother found Hans Feick records. Hans was the one who died and his wife remarried and moved to the farm in Steinau

From the book Building America, A History of the Family Feick (Feik-Fike) by Anita Gundlach Feick, pages 22-32

1564-1630 - Hans Veick

1620- Ernsthofen, in the Odenwald, Germany.

The marriage day of Hans Veick (Feick) and Catharina Medess, the daughter of the village mayor of Brandau, Lenchen Medess.

1621 - 1668 Martin (Merten) Feig

This was a day of celebration for all of the people in these small villages. And a special celebration was held when one year later, in 1621, a son was born to the young couple. They named him Martin (Merten Feig). No other children are noted from this marriage and in 1636 the father, Hans Veick, became ill and died. In those days life was difficult for young widows so Catharina wasted no time after the death of Hans and on the 7th of June in 1636 she was wed to a widower from Steinau. The widower Jacob Klim was a well-to-do farmer who was the only person in Steinau to survive the plague and his home was the only one left standing. In 1618 Catharina's sister Apollonia had wed Hans Gliem, the son of Hans Gliemen of Steinau. As these names all had several spellings depending on the person doing the writing, it is not known if he was related to the widower Klim (also spelled Kliemen) or not. This is a good possibility, however.

After the marriage of Catharina Medess Feick and Jacob Klim, she and her son Martin Feick moved to Steinau into Jacob's home, #46. In 1638 Jacob, and in 1642 Barbara, were born to the Klim's and in 1651 Catharina, Jacob and the two children moved to Obernhausen, to land that Jacob had inherited, leaving #46 Steinau to Martin Feick. Perhaps it was a wedding gift for on the 24th of April 1651, martin married Anna Barbara Zeünert of Ottmauchau.

1652 - 1737 Hans Merten (Martin) Feigt

Martin and Anna Barbara (Zeünert) Feick were the parents of nine children: Hans Merten (Martin) 1652, Agnes Maria 1653, Barbara 1654, Hans 1656, Reinhardt 1657, Jakob 1662, Johann Balthaser 1664, and twins Elizabeth and Eva in 1667. The oldest son, Hans Martin (spelled Feigt in the church records) was born in 1652 and in September of 1672 he married Catharina Lachmuth. He inherited #46 Steinau. He lived to a goodly age dying in 1737 at age 85.

It's partly on my website barbfeick.com

This is SGT Christian, Reginnia from 50th Signal Battalion; Ft. Bragg, NC. I felt that SGT Feick was my mentor and was really missing the conversations.

My name is Joyce Feick Ruble and I am from Parkersburg, WV. My dad was Ulious Feick who I know is a relative of Ralph. He passed away in 2001. My mother died in June 2004. Her name was Pauline. She would have known all this but the only other relatives that you may contact who may know something is Paul Feick, Parkersburg and Ilena Feick , Parkersburg. Eugene was their brother.
Hope this helps. Strange I didn't know there were 2 Joyce's in the family.

I'm trying to trace my and I am stuck. My grandfather died before I was born, and he and my grandmother divorced when my father was younger. So my father never really got any information from him because it was a messy divorce and my grandmother wouldn't let my father see his father. I'm looking for any information that could get me past my grandfather. His name was John W Feick and he was born in 1921. He worked for the Clareton Steel works in Pennsylvania and he died in 1980. He had four brothers James, Robert, Howard, and Larry. His fathers name was also John and his Mothers was Sarah. His fathers death may have occured in 1967 but I can't be sure on that.

Heirich FEICK from Hessen-Darmstadt to Mason County, IL

Do you have a Heinrich FEICK born about 1856 in your tree?
I am researching "Henry" as a possible brother of my GG-Grandmother Julia M. FEICK born 1869 Germany, immigrated May 1886.
I have located Henry FEICK, wife Margaret (AKA Margaretha and Catherine) in 1900 thru 1920 Census of Mason County, IL ....they never had any children as far as the census records show. 3 different dates of immigration were recorded in the census of 1900, 1910 and 1920 ...in order from 1900 to 1920 as...1886, 1882 and 1889....(in 1900 they claimed living US 14 years).
Heinrich died 28 Jan. 1935 in Havana, Mason County...Margaretha 23 Nov. 1934 Havana (IRAD- Death Index)
My GG-Grandmother Julia M. FEICK immigrated in 1886 and was living in Tazewell County, Illinois...she married Peter TRAUTMANN born 1856 Hessen-Darmstadt...daughter Alma was born in Pekin, Tazewell County in 1889. The family moved to Knox County, Nebraska by 1900 and to Mclean County, North Dakota by 1903.

Believe a connection between Julia and Heinrich/Henry FEICK. Tazewell County boarders Mason County.

Thanks for any help.

Vera
It states that his cousin paid his passage and he had $75.00 on him when he arrived. He would be staying with his cousin Carl Feick at 321 Decatur Street Sandusky, Ohio, the date on the postcard is June, 1923. the postcard is written to his father Johannes Brant in Lubeck Germany.
Does this sound familiar to anyone?
thanks Norma

Feick - Germany - 1700's

I'm trying to verify the following information. Can any help me?

I am decended from a Philip Caspar Urbach who immigrated to the U.S. from Germany around 1839. I believe his mother was Anna Catharine Feick, born April 8, 1786 in Schuchtern, Hessen, and married Johannes Urbach August 2, 1805 in Hessen-Nassau. I suspect Anna's parents were Philipp Caspar Feick born around 1761 to Johann George Feick in Schuchtern, Hessen. Philipp Caspar Feick married Elisabeth Schafer or Schaefer on May 4, 1784.

Any information on any of these people would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have nothing beyond Hans Feick. A Feick in Pennsylvania told me that the Feick's were originally Jewish and they escaped to Germany and took the name Feick. I can't connect his Feick's to mine even tho a lot of the names were the same. I just can't figure out why I don't have a father's name. Especially since we have the Mother's name. It seems like a marriage record should be found to verify his name.
I would be glad to send you any info I have. We had a family reunion this past July and we had a few Feick's that were related WAY WAY BACK.

I have some information on Feick's and yes we do have a CONRAD who was married to an Elizabeth Weber. From what I have seen they have spelled Feick many different ways and they are all related. A Feick from Pennsylvania contacted me this morning by e-mail. He said 5 Feick brothers came over from Germany together and then split up. I know that my Feick and his wife came over with his sister and her husband. Philip George Feick and his wife Elizabeth Fetters and his sister Anna Katherine and her husband John Philip Bauer came over in 1843 and settled in Crawford County, Ohio I hope to hear from you again.

My e-mail address is philly@nwonline.net. I will keep looking thru a book I have called Feick's in America.

Yes, that is also the way they spelled Feick with a V. I have information regarding how the Feick Family got the farm at 46 Steinau. Where do you fit into Han's Family..We go from Hans Kathrina Medress Feick to Martin and Anna Barbara Zeunert. I will wait until I hear from you by e-mail before I tell you any more. I am excited because you are the first one that I have actually made a connection to Steinau. I will wait to hear from you.

My Feick Family is also from the area where you are looking. We have a Johann Valentine Feick in our family. I have a book written by a Feick called Building America a History of the Family Feick. The home place for my Feick's is STEINAU. Does this mean anything to you? My genealogy starts with Hans Feick born in 1562. I hope to hear from you again.
