Hi Dolores,

Just wondering... Is this part of your Feige family?
http://www.greenerpasture.com/genes/new.asp?person=6946

The reason I am wondering is because my Feige family married a Theinert and this Feige (see link above) found in Baltimore also married a Theinert. Seems like they must be related somehow.

This is my Feige family.
http://www.greenerpasture.com/genes/new.asp?person=6
They came from Prussia and settled in Pittsfield, MA

Beckie
Your family who is originally from Lithuania is not related to the Feiges from Schwarzenau. They were in Westfalen as far back as the 1600's. I suspect that your Feiges' name is from a female whose first name was Feige and the family is probably Jewish. I would suggest that you look at JewishGen.org for more information.
Georgia Haken

My Feiges family came from Lithuania/Latvia and went to Chicago area where there seems to be a varst family tree.I am not sure where they came from before Lithuania, and I often wonder where they got this name? So maybe there is a conection. How far are you able to trace back?
Best wishes,
Georgia Rosengarten

I know that one of my Feige's married into the Renno Family who still lives in Germany today. We have visited them. Does any of these facts sound familiar?

Dolores

Do you know if Augusta had any other relatives in the Spearville area? My g.grandmother, Adeline Feige, was born in 1871, and came to Dodge City, Kansas in 1899 from Posen, Prussia. She lived with her uncle, Gottfried Bohnstengel, before marrying my g.grandfather, Carl Kummer. Feige is an uncommon name, and Spearville is only a few miles from Dodge City, so I'm wondering if there was a connection.

I am researching the 1922 Knickerbocker Theater Disaster and have the name, Christian Feige, as a victim. All I know about the person is that he was 68 years old and living at 1010 18th Street, NW, Washington, DC, at the time of death.

I am writing a detailed report about the disaster and would like to include as much information about the victims as possible. If you know anything about Christian Feige, please contact me at chambersdk@yahoo.com.

Meanings of the names FEIG and FEIGE

Quelle:
Etymologisches Wörterbuch der Deutschen Familiennamen, Band 1, Limburg/Lahn 1957, S. 441

My wife's great-great-grandparents are Ludwig Carl Feige and Anna Elisabeth Lueckel. One of their children was Caroline Emilie Feige (wife's great-grandmother). Caroline had a brother, Ludwig (Louis) Carl Feige, who was born 7/6/1861. The family was from Wemlinghausen, Germany. The family settled in Louisville, KY. Louis Carl Feige (b. 7/6/1861) married Mary Pfeiffer. If this looks like the right person, I have all the information on the Feiges.
