HI! I saw your post regarding Velvel ("Wolf") Feigenbaum.

I am trying to learm more about Chaje Feigenbaum whose father was Welwel/Velvel Feigenbaum. I know Chaje and her father resided in Siedlec, Poland in 1908 according to Chaje's ship passenger list to America. Does anything sound familiar?

Stacye

FEIGENBAUMS FROM LUBLIN WHO MOVED TO ISRAEL

Good morning all and Happy New Year!

I've been working on my family history for about 17 or so years. Over the past 5 or so years, thanks to Jewish Gen, I've made lots of headway. I found relatives on my mother's (Feigenbaum) side that I never knew, established some relationships, some cousins ignored me, while some said "Hi" and it never got much further than that. My mom's family was from Lublin. My grandparents moved to NYC with their immediate family, including both of their mothers as well as my oldest aunt and oldest uncle. My aunt who was born and raised in Lublin told me outright that anyone who did not leave Lublin before WWII was killed by the Nazis.

Through one 3rd cousin who I have a good relationship with, I discovered that indeed, a relative survived the Shoah. Her name was Pola Kuperschmidt (ne: Feigenbaum). She was my grandfather's first cousin. Their fathers were brothers.

I did research all over - Yad Vashem, Bezeq 144 and long story short after about a year or so of research, I found the family of the man she married when she moved to Israel. She remarried a man named Chaim Bavitch who was the President of the Beit Ha'avoda in Tel Aviv for many years. I met with his children, grand children and great grandchildren in Rishon L'tzion. Was a lovely meeting. Chaim Bavitch's daughter gave me an envelope of Pola's pictures, which to me is worth like diamonds. This family told me that Pola had relatives here, yet although they have met them decades ago, they had little or nothing to do with them, nor do they remember any of their names.

Going through the pictures which most of them were not labelled or dated, I found a couple of group shots (probably from the late 1950s or very early 1960s) with people at some simcha. What was striking was that some of these people resemble my family very much. One man looks very much like my uncle Hy, a couple of young girls look like cousins of mine and, as my friend Trisher Wilson (a fine genealogist herself) pointed out, one man looks like me. Picture is attached.

These people had families and live or lived in Israel, and I'm determined to find them. I need help to do so. I tried lots of ways and I've gotten nowhere.

Please contact me via ancestry or via my email at: Rashi67@hotmail.com

Thanks!!

Rashi Rosenzweig

Ra'anana, ISRAEL

Dear Charlene:

Please be in touch with me. My Mother's family is Feigenbaum from New York (the Lower East Side and The Bronx). She was related to a Bernard Feigenbaum who was my grandfather's first cousin.

Though on many birth certificates (including my grandfather's) it states that they were born in Russia, my Mom's family comes from Lublin which is now Poland, yet has been a part of czarist Russia as well.

My email: Rashi67@hotmail.com

Best,

Rashi Rosenzweig

Ra'anana, Israel

seeking husband of Bertha Feiger Feigenbaum b 1894 Russia

My grandmother Bertha's first husband died btwn 1917 to 1920 in New York. All we know is that his last name was Feigenbaum and he might have been my grandmother's 2nd cousin. They had one child, Bernard Feigenbaum, born Apr 1917.

I know her first husband died before the census was taken in 1920 because by that time she had already remarried to my grandfather Hyman Korenthal. Bernard was listed in the 1920 and 1930 census's as Bernard Korenthal although he never went by that name. In the 1940 US census from New York he was using the name Bernard Feigenbaum.

Bernard was in contact with his Feigenbaum cousins in New York during the 1930's, but we have no info on their names.

It would be interesting to find this info because my cousin's (Bernard's children)know nothing about the family as Bernard died when they were little.

Charlene Korenthal Bowman
grand-daughter of Bertha Feiger Feigenbaum Korenthal

My family came from Parczew in Poland. My grandfather was born in 1896. I do not have the birth date of Moshe Velvel Feigenbaum but assume it would have been 40 to 50 years earlier. Do you have any of your family tree on Geni?
I can be reached directly at nudels@comcast.net
Mendy Nudelman

I have a picture of a man that is supposedly my great grandfather's brother. My great grandfather was Hersch Feigenbaum. On the picture, my great grand mother wrote that it was Hersch's brother Velvel. I do not know what city they are from. Most documents, ie - naturalization papers, Boston passenger lists, etc. say they are from Russia. But, I always thought they were from Poland. It may depend on where the borders were at the time. What is the year of birth of your Velvel? Hersch's birth year was 1896.

If you are related to Moishe Velvel Feigenbaum from Parcev or Parcew Poland, please write me and tell me how you are related to him. I am unsure of some of the spellings of the town in Poland so forgive me. I am MV Feigenbaum's great great granddaughter and I am trying to put together the Feigenbaum family tree. If you are Feigenbaum that descends from Parcev I want to know even if Moishe Velvel dosn't sound familiar. My grandfather was the treasurer of the Partziver Young Mens Benev. Assoc., if this sounds familiar write me. Thank you.

My great grandfather's name was Dr. Phillip Feigen and his mother's name was Miriam. He was chief of staff at Chicago's St. Mary's Hospital. He was married to Bertha Levin who came to the U.S. from Canada. He had eight children Herman, Manual, Arthur, Tobina, Sterra, Albert, Morton and Leona. They lived on the West Side of Chicago. My grandfather was Morton who died in 1989, and the only surviving child is Leona Tewels. One of my Uncles was Albert who is a prominent lawyer in Washington D.C. until he died in 1995. One of my cousins (second cousin) is Richard Feigen who owns several prominent art galleries in chicag, new york and Los Angeles. His sister Brenda was a feminist lawyer who lives somewhere in california. They are the children of Arthur Feigen. My mother has been trying to research her grandfather's family and has come up against some dead ends. Maybe you can help, please write to me or to my Mom at Bobbie45@aol.com.

I have a real interest in finding out more about my grandfather and his family.

Sincerely,
Katina Levin

This is in response to your posting on RootsWeb...Feigenbaum means fig tree. Feigen=fig and baum=tree. I am researching my great grandparents Israel Leonard Feigenbaum and his wife Lana (aka Lane). They were from Premyslaner Austria. This area was then Poland and subsequently owned by Ukraine.
