Annie Felber (curran)

Hi, I am trying to find information on Annie Felber that was either Married to, or had 2 children with a Bernard Curran, between 1900 and 1910. The children were Bernard and Elsie (possibly Elizabeth) I know My great grandfather and his sister grew up in an orphanage and apparently their mother died in childbirth. The story is that their father was a baseball play who was paying for them in the orphanage. He was originally from Ireland but we really don't know much about where or when he was born. Any information on any of this would be very helpful Thanks.

Hopefully you still look on these boards. I know of the cemetery...St Helena City Cemetery in NE? There were supposedly two Verena's that lived in St Helena one died in 1872 (whose headstone I haven't found who may be related to me), and a Verena (whom I know I'm related to). Her headstone with her husband's (Jacob) are still in the cemetery. I'm wondering if your husband is related to them, if you have any further info on their ancesters.
Jacob Felber
and Verena Heitz Felber

The John Felber that married Amelia Marie Johanna Hoffman IS my Great grandmother's brother!! I looked up information in my book and I had a obit of John Felber from 1914 from the Mankato newspaper that says he leaves two sisters, Mrs. August VanThuyne,(Caroline), (my Great Grandmother) and Mrs Frank Brume, (Mary). Please email me at balzers@hotmail.com and I can send you the obit after I scan it. We are related! I have John as born Dec 12, 1856 and died on April 15, 1914. His sister Mary b. 1860, and Caroline b. 24 Apr 1868. I also have John Felbers certificate of death. I looked up some info and saw that I had emails between Carole Hoffman and myself from 2002.She also sent me part of her family tree that lists John's death as Lymphangitis with septic anemia. Please write me and I can send you copies of some of this stuff. What is your name and where do you live? I am anxious to hear from you!! sue

Unfortunately not. My grandfather was born in August, 1898, in Mankato. His father, my great grandfather was married in Mankato in 1887, but I don't know his birthdate or place. Here is a bit of information from the Hoffman family website that talks about his marriage to Amelia Hoffman ... it's probably no relation to your Felber family. Unfortunately, the following is a bit disjointed ... I copied it from the Hoffman surname website:

Amelia Marie Johanna Hoffman was born on October 25, 1862 in Greenfield, Milwaukee Co., Wisconsin. She died on December 7, 1945 in Mankato, Blue Earth Co., Minnesota 4. She is buried in the Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery, Lyme Twp., Blue Earth Co., Minnesota.
She married John Felber on November 22, 1887 in Blue Earth Co., Minnesota. (He is buried in the December 12, 1857 in Ohio and died on April 14, 1914 in Mankato, Blue Earth Co., Minnesota. He is buried in the Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery, Lyme Twp., Blue Earth Co., Minnesota.)

If I find out anything else, I'll certainly post on this website. Good luck with the search!

I don't really have anything on Mary Eloise(Felber)Brune's family. I have her birth as 13 Dec 1857 and her death Dec 1933. She was married to my great, great Uncle. He was Franz (Frank) Heinrich Brune. His parents were Johann Friedrich Brune and Catherine Wilhelmine Charlotte (Riecke) Brune. I did look at a couple censes records that I know were the Frank and Mary and it said Mary's parents were from Switzerland. So it sounds like it's the same family! Gina.

Was your Grandfather the John Felber born 12 Dec 1856/ d. 15 Apr 1914? If he is this is my Great Grandmothers brother. Caroline was born 1868 in Mankato. I also have Mary b. 1859 in Ohio. Their father John must have died right about 1868 and the family moved from Ohio to MN. Please let me know if this matches your info. I have been searching for YEARS to find someone related to the Felbers from Switzerland. I have census records and death records, but can't seem to trace them back to OH in Census records, or Switzerland either. Hope to hear back from you! Sue

This is interesting. My great grandfather was John Felber, who married Amelia Hoffman in 1887 in Mankato. They had 5 daughters(Amelia, Bertha, Matilda, Anna, and Elizabeth) and one son, my grandfather, John. I wonder if Caroline was my great grandfather's sister. My ancestors also came from Switzerland so it seems possible that Caroline and John are related. I have asked my sister to search through books she has in her possession from my grandfather John's sister, Elizabeth, who did some geneology research. If I find out anything, I will post.
Hi Paula. I haven't been active in my search for sometime, but I do have the immigration and death certificates. The name of John's wife is Maria Lena Fisher. Born July 31, 1825, died Jan 5, 1911. Is buried in the Spring Garden Cememtary. John and Maria immigrated aboard the SS Iowa out of Liverpool, and arrived in NY on June 1, 1852. That is why your Great Grandmother is named Mary Leanna after her grandmother Maria Lena. The death certificate of Maria Lena has her name as Mary L Felber. It list her surname as Fisher, below that it list father as Don't Know given name.

Hope this clears up the name issue, you may have a bad copy of the record.

Hi Rhonda,

I had never heard of the third daughter but you must be correct since there is a grave. My grandma told stories of being hired out to local farmers to work the fields. I never heard of her being sent to relatives. Grandma was married by the time she was 13.

So Cleo would be my mother's first cousin. All of Freda's children are now past. We lost my uncle last year. You and I are first cousins.

In what part of the country are you all located? Where are the graves located for Grandma Jones? I'm in the Kansas City area.

debaubuchon@everestkc.net

Deb

Yes Mary died July 17, 1910--Her death certificate says of tuberculosis. But between Freda born in 1905 and Lera born 05 Jan 1909 there was a baby named Reva E. born 20 June 1907 and died 21 Aug 1908. I do not know how she died, but she is buried next to Mary at Mount Carmel.
My aunt Cleo, daughter of Lera, is positive, and I did find a grave. So I believe there were really 3 daughters and Mary died within 5 months of my grandmother Lera's birth.
The girls were then split up and went to live with family members, Is the story I have. Grandma Lera always mentioned her Grandmother Wilson. She was really Nancy Ann Berry. She had been married to David Thomas Jones and he died, She married Benjamin S Wilson. Nancy Ann Berry,(Jones/ Wilson) raised my grandmother Lera.
I am Rhonda Jean (Percival) Laughlin-My father is Gerald Rollins Percival -son of Lera and Edgar Percival

In translating the old script of the "Familien Register" of the Bubendorf Church in Baselland , Switzerland, I found this ancestor:

Verena FELBER b. 10 March 1880-1882 d. 26 May 1844 in Bubendorf, Baselland. m. 30 March 1802 to Hans Jakob BASTATI (Bastady) Her parents are unknown, but I am suspecting Rudolf FELBER of Oberdorf m. 1785 to Margaret KESTENHOLZ of Lupsingen. Does anyone have any information on these FELBERS?

Other FELBER men's names around this time period are:
Sebastian, Michael, Zachariah, Johannes, and Daniel. Women's names include Anna and Elisabeth.

John Felber b. 8 SEP 1823 in Switzerland

John Felber is my GGG grandfather which means that I'm related to several people who have posted here on this board. John had several children Mary, John, Frederick, Charles, Elizabeth and Anna. Mary may have been born in Switzerland, John, Frederick, Charles and Elizabeth were born in Ohio, possibly Youngstown as Charles listed that as his birth place. Anna was born in Missouri. Now the only real complicated item is determining who was the mother of all these children as burial and census records show John was married to 3 different women. Margaret, Elizabeth, and Maria Lena, unless they are one in the same. Margaret was born 1825, Elizabeth 1829, and Maria Lena 31 JUL 1825 all were born in Switzerland. Margaret is listed in the 1860 census, Elizabeth in the 1870 census, and Maria Lena 1880 census and is buried with John Felber at Spring Garden Cemetery, Miller County, Missouri. I can accept that the census lists incorrect date of births so Margaret and Elizabeth may be the same person "Margaret Elizabeth" is a common name, but to convert that name to "Maria Lena" doesn't make sense.

Title: 1860 Census - OHIO, MAHONING, YOUNGSTOWN
Page: Series: M653 Roll: 1005 Page: 104
Entry Date: 21 July 1860
Source Text: Surname: Felber GivenName: John Relation: Head Sex: M Race: W Age: 37 Maritial Status: M Birthplace: Switerland Occupation: Farmer Wife: Margaret Children: Mary 12, John 6, Fredrick 4, Charles 2 Also listed Jacob Easley age 39 Occupation Farm Laborer, birthplace Switzerland

My guess is that John's wife surname would be Easley, as it would be common to have a in-law as a border. More research is needed.

John, moved from Ohio to Missouri between 1864 and 1866 Elizabeth born in Ohio 1865, and Anna (Rosena) in Missouri in 1866.
Hello, I am not familiar with the difference citys and towns within the Germany of today. My mother-in-law left in 1953 with her son, Laszlo, my husband. Her husband had gone on before her as they had a small daughter die in the American hospital while waiting to go out on a ship. Anna's mother's name was Anna Maria Kaferlober 1895-1974and her father was Ludwig Felber 1887-1953. LUDWIG HAD 16 SIBLINGS BUT aNNA DOES NOT KNOW THE NAME OF THEM. She as one of the youngest does not know the names of all her own brothers and sisters grown and moved on. I do have the following Felber children Maria, Rosa, Ludwig, Betty, Anna(Married Andreas Vincze of Cluj area...talked of Dracula's castle as being a tourist draw near his village), Walter, Herbert, and Kurt. The family in the last years kept around Munich, West Germany where Ludwig and wife Anna M. died and are buried. I am just starting this search so perhaps some of this can be of help to you.
FELBER - MO, KS

I am looking for information on my great grandmother, Marie Louise (Louise Marie) Felber. She married my great grandfather, Alfred Glauser before 1889. Their first child was born in 1889. My grandmother's was born in 1896 in Caw Valley, Kansas. She was the fifth child. The sixth child, Roy was born in 1897. The story goes that Marie (Louise) died in childbirth along with the seventh child. The children were put in a children's home in Kansas City until my great grandfather remarried and moved them all to St. Louis around 1901-1902. I do know that my great grandmother had at least one brother but do not know his name and that he lived in or around Kansas City, Missouri. Will be glad to share info.
