Hi. I know this is an older post but due to a recent posting/reply I just found it. How much more info have you found?
Forrest J. FELKER is the brother of my Gr.grandfather, John E. FELKER; he is the son of Jesse B. and Mary (KING)FELKER.
Forrest married Rebecca Olive KIME(S) sometime between 1880-1887, but to this date have not found a marriage record.
Forrest is found listed in the 1880 IN census as Morris J (probably a transcription error) with his brother Emery.
Forrest and Rebecca O. had three (known) children:
1)Homer J. b.23 June 1888 in IN; d.2 July 1915 in Pottawatomie Co, OK, at age 27yr.
2)Anna Amanda/Maranda was born c1889 in either IN or OK; no birth record has been found; d.6 Oct 1890 Allen Co, IN.
3) John W. b.23 Sep 1893 OK; d.26 May 1913 in Pottawatomie Co, OK, at age 19yr.

I have more information on the FELKERs that I can share. If you have any other information to share I would like to hear from you. Nancy (nee FELKER)
nlfriley (at) bellnet (dot) ca

I am the great-great grandson of Stephen Felker. I have not be able to find a direct link between Stephen Felker, b.1799 SC & the Jacob Felker family of Newberry. At best they were cousins. Stephen's family lived in SC for a while, but had stronger connections to Tennessee. I am confident his brothers were Peter Felker of Hamilton County, TN and William Felker of Jefferson, Cocke, & Sevier Counties, TN.

Hi Doris,
Do you have any ideas on the origin of Fletcher in William Fletcher Felker's name? I have a g.uncle named Fletcher Denton Felker, and I wonder if there is a connection? Thus far I can only connect him to Jacob E. Felker thru the Hutchison/Hutchinson side of these Felkers in SC/GA/VA. I have Stephen Felker,b.11/6/1799 SC and have not been able to find a direct connection to the Jacob that married Barbara.

The next generation (WWII and forward) are the BIG migration out, ex my husband was born in Japan (Army Base).
Joseph, I have a FELKER contact who I think might be able to help you out, he has helped me lots with my FELKERs. His name is Jeremiah Felker Reynolds, you can contact me for his email address.

this info is from my own FELKER research:
Donald S Felker JR b MA c1929 is the son of Donald S Felker SR b.MA c1907 and Frances A Brown b.MA c1910.
Donald SR is the son of Lenard/Leonard Oscar Felker b.MA Dec 1879 and Mary E. McDonald b.MA Oct.1879, and has a sister Elizabeth/Bessie b.MA c1901.
Leonard/Lenard Oscar is the son of Martha J (m.n.unk) Felker b.MA c1859, and has a brother Henry C. b.MA Sep.1872.
His father could be Chas H. Felker b.MA c1854; but I cannot be sure; when you get this far back there are dozens of Charles Felker's to weed thru.

If you find out where your father Joseph, and/or grandfather Donald were born, let me know and I will see what else I can find for you.
Nancy

HI!!

Thanks for your response! The 1900 Jesse and Sarah I know for *sure* are my ancestors. Their daughter Mary Elizabeth is my ggrandmother. I will have to ask some relatives about "Phoeba"...I wasn't aware of her but maybe someone else knows. I do know that Jesse and Sarah were married in MI - they were married 4 years after they immigrated. I haven't even been able to find Sarah's maiden name and I know nothing about Jesse Felker before the 1900 census. I would be nice if he fit in to your tree though.
BTW - You did a very good job on your web page...very detailed!

Photo of Charles was taken in Hammond (Lake Co.) IN, and photo of Annie Felker Foss was taken in Dover (Strafford Co.) NH. Each of them looks to be about 25, and each picture was taken in about the early 1880s.

I found the family of Charles and Annie in the 1900 census for Strafford (Strafford Co.) NH, and Charles’ DOB was listed as Aug 1855 in NH, while Annie was born Mar 1855 in MA. Children listed in 1900 were Fidelia B., age 20; Winfield, age 13, and also granddaughter, Thelma Foss, age 11 months, born in NY.

Get back to me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to Charles F. or Annie Felker Foss.

I'm looking for information on the Felker family of Georgia, specifically the family of a George W. Felker, born abt.1852 in an area called Howell's District, Cobb, Georgia. From what I've heard the Felkers were supposedly a very wealthy family that owned some county. What county that was?, I don't know. His father is listed as being born in Germany and his mother is listed as being African?. Also I need any information on a possible link with the Petty/Pettey family. Any information on Felkers of that period will help. Thanks!

L. M. Felker, Ship List

On May 9, 1854, a ship named Star of the West came into New York Harbor. It had departed from San Juan del Norte, Nicaragua. On this ship is a man named L. M. Felker, born in 1794. Three other people on this ship ended up in Maries County Missouri. There may be more than that, but it is hard to tell. The surnames match, but with only initials for given names, I cannot be positive. Felker became an important name in Maries County, but we have no knowledge of this L.M. Felker. The Felker's that became known here were Henry, Herman, George and John, all four brothers originally from Germany. The oldest one was born in 1828. L. M. Felker cannot be their father because he died on the trip from Germany to the U.S. about 1844.
Does anyone know anything about an L.M. Felker? Is he related to the Felker brothers that came to Vienna, or Maries County Missouri? Or is it just coincidence that a Felker happens to be on a ship with three other people who ended up settling in Maries County?

Felkers from Germany to Missouri to California back to Missouri

The history of Maries County Missouri holds much information about a Felker family that migrated to the U.S. about 1844 from Germany. The father supposedly died on the ocean voyage. The widow and her children made their way to St. Louis, where she made her family a home. The father's name isn't given, and the widow's name is given as only Mrs. Felker. History says the Felker's had 6 children, but it only names 4. I suspect the other two children never came to Maries County.
1. Henry married Annette Berg in St. Louis
2. George
3. John Harrison Felker married Amanda M. Anderson in Osage County Missouri in 1853
4. Herman married 1. Susan E. Hickam
2. Lottie Shockley

John Harrison Felker traveled to California and joined the Gold Rush about 1850. I don't know if any other Felker's went with him on this trip. But he returned to central Missouri with ideas of making a cattle drive to California. He married Amanda Anderson. The cattle drive started in April of 1854, and it reached the west coast in November. There were approximately 60 people on the drive, including John's brother Henry and his wife. Henry and Annette didn't return to Missouri. They chose to remain in California.

George Felker was robbed and killed shortly after the civil war about 4 miles north of Vienna MO.

Does anyone recognize this family? I would like to know their parent's names and who the other two children were.
