I am researching my mother's paternal line from Rydesheim/Rudigsheim Germany. Julian Felski b 1872 came in August 1903 with wife Anna b in Helmny/Stelmny Germany and son Bronislaw b 1901 through the port of Baltimore. They settled in Chicago where they had sons Frank b 1903, August, my grandfather, b 1905, John b 1907, and Peter b 1909 and died at 11 months of age. Felski is the spelling Julian and August used but I have been told that it would be an alternate spelling of Voelske/Voelzke. In 1909 on the naturalization petition their address was 4853 Hermitage. August was a lithographer for Sherwood Lithograph on East 30th in Chicago when he applied for his social security number in 1936. He lists his father's name as Julius while his father uses Julian. He lists his mother's name as Anna Jarzombowski. My mother's bible says Jarzembowski. He lived at 5651 S. Loomis at this time. His death certificate says he worked for U.S. Lithograph when he died in April 1951.
I was a year old when August died and wonder what happened to the lithograph companies and if it is likely there is anything left with his signature. Any suggestions or information on collateral families is very welcome. I will be happy to she whatever I have. Maybe someone can tell me why my grandfather's family effectively shut out August's family when he died. I've never known any of them except Bruno (Bronislaw).
