Re: J Sibley Felton

While researching the origin of the name of the town I live in, I came across your post here in ancestry. I live in Felton, Pa. 17322 named after Samuel Keehmley Felton, Sr. J Sibley was one of his sons. SK Felton was one of the owners of Felton, Sibley and Company a varnish manufacturer in Phila. JS Felton was born in Phila. December 17, 1866. After his schooling he was made a junior partner of the firm. By 1910 he was moved up to vice-president, secretary and director. In your research have you found any connection to S.M.Felton, railroad builder who, along with Allan Pinkerton, was responsible for saving the life of Lincold during his trip from Harrisburgh to Baltimore in 1867?

Lisa- Sorry for the delay. The William and Sarah [Mardis] Felton I'm looking for were residents of Indiana County, PA. I have identified two surviving lines that resided in Indiana, Westmorland and Fayette counties. Thanks for the lead, but I don't think there is a direct link with the Titusville clan.
Al

FELTON CREST AT WINDSOR CASTLE

Dear David. Thank you so much for posting this message abut our Felton Crest that still hangs at Windsor Castle. If anyone is interested in purchasing a copy of it. Please contact me at Felton96@aol.com. I purchased the right to make copies several years ago at Windsor Castle. Feo anyone going to England, I urge you to go see it. It is the greatest thrill to stand there and know that our ancestor was awarded this by the Black Prince in 1382. It is one of the oldest Crests still hanging there.
Cora Felton Anderson

I'm desperately trying to find information on my husband's side of the family. I've gotten as far as Ephraim Roy Felton born in Homburg, Germany. I don't know his spouse but I do know of at least one son, (my husband's great grandfather) Edward R. Felton, born in Ohio. He married (great grandma)Elvie (sp?)Ethelle Jones. Any information on any of these family members would be great.

Hi, this is my husbands (Leaming Ewing) family album, he is a direct descendant of the first person named (Emma Stratton Ewing), she was his great grandmother. Many other relatives of Felton and Philip surname still live in the Cape may area near us. My daughter Vanessa Ewing contacted moneone about this 3 - 4 years ago, and we never heard back. We believe the album was lost in south florida when an elderly relative, Marguerite Ewing, passed away years ago. What is necessary for our family to receive this album? thank you, Jana Ewing

Felton maybe the ones who were from the UK originally.

My husband and his family grew up hearing that thier Felton ancestor came from England.

He married Rebecca Unknown. They had a son name Ora Felton born in 1862. Rebecca was born in Pennsylvania so I assume the marrige was after he migrated to the USA, and I think it took place in Ohio.

D. B. FELTON - Kansas City, KS - April 1913

"The Kansas City Times" (Missouri) Wednesday, April 9, 1913

MAN WHIRLED ON A MILL SHAFT

William P. WYCOFF, a carpenter, was whirled about the
driving shaft of a temporary sawmill, adjoining the new
Terminal Elevator, under construction in Armourdale,
yesterday morning until he received injuries from which he
died at 3:10 o'clock in the afternoon at the Bethany Hospital.

WYCOFF's coat became entangled in the shaft. He had
worked there only one day. Mr. WYCOFF was 38 years old
and lived at 1804 East Tenth Street. He leaves a widow,
Mrs. Emma WYCOFF. Burial will be at his birthplace in
Garnett, Kas.

This is the second of a series of accidents at the elevator in
the last two days. D. B. FELTON, 36 years old, of 203 North
Thorpe Avenue, Kansas side, and Sherman SEARCY, 27 years
old, of 332 South Fifth Street, Kansas side, who were injured
Monday when a heavy pipe, which was being raised swung
around and struck them, are at the Bethany Hospital. FELTON's
back was broken and he probably will die. SEARCY, whose leg
was fractured will recover.

======================================================
(I have no connection with this family but I'd appreciate
knowing if you found this posting helpful.)
johnobrien@kc.rr.com
======================================================

neirbo9

Lord Felton?

I was recently browsing some history books, and came upon one that said that my family of Feltons descended from a "second son of a Lord Felton." My ancestor was Prudence FELTON, b. 1801 - Washington Co., MD/d. 07 Jul 1864 - Horse Shoe Run, Preston Co., VA/WV. She m. 08 Nov 1825 - Frederick Co., VA to Abraham Daniel WOTRING, b. 27 Oct 1804 - Aurora, Preston Co., VA/WV/d. 13 Jun 1891 - Frederick Co., VA. Her parents were John FELTON and Mary Eleanor McHENRY of Ryan's Glade, MD and WV. Her grandfather's name was Benjamin, and according to the history books, the Feltons came from England in 1732 and settled in MA. I would be most interested in finding out who this "Lord Felton" is, who the second son was, and the line to Prudence. As well, is the line provable? Any and all help is appreciated.

This is 2009 and I just read your message. I am researching Feltons' - my grandmother was a Felton whose grandfather raised her... they moved about and records show them living on a plantation. Funny, how I come across your inquiry today, when I told my mother earlier that my grandmother was on a plantation... and she consents that she was...look forward to hear from you in near future
