I was working on my Williams relatives and came across Myrtia Williams married to Nick Felty - no other info
than that - no dates. The only thing that may help is the Williams family I am working on is from Johnson Co Ky.

The family I was posting Joseph C. Williams who was married to Mary Catherine Hitchcock (my GGGrandparents).

They had 12 children;

I have a Wilhem Vette that was b. 1834 and came over at age 19-20 on Nov 19, 1853 on Ship: Germanic from Odbronn to NYC to St Louis, MO. He married Cathrine Blotevogel probably in St Louis. My tree Budke Family Tree. Can you give me more information?

There are major probles with this query. Freddie's obit lists no
half siblings; Tessie's obit lists no stepchildren. Who is this
Harvey James JARRELL?

Later today I'll make another query covering Tessie's lineage as her
mother is Maudie JARRELL.

Needless to say I'm going to plaster these two queries all over the
internet to see if someone can straighten us out on who's who and
hopefully some of the living will contact us. Hmmmm; come to think of
it I hope only the living contact; I spook easiy!

PAX - Roger Dale Jarrell, 37, died Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at his
home following a short illness.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, on Jan. 3, 1970, he was the son of the late
Paul Jarrell, and Sharon Stover Donell of Pax, and the stepson of
Douglas Donell of Pax.

Mr. Jarrell was a graduate of Mount Hope High School and was employed
by Air Tech as a tool repairman.

Mr. Jarrell served in the U.S. Navy during Desert Storm.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Tessie L.
Jarrell and Harvey James Jarrell; and maternal grandparents, Everett
Stover and Margie Stover.

Other survivors include brothers, Paul Jarrell of Clear Creek,
Jonathan Jarrell of Pax and Mark Donell of Oak Hill; and special
friends, Sherri Gwinn of Beckley, Salena Gwinn and Shalen Rhan of
Pax, Melina Williams of Pax and Melissa of Sandbranch.

Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel,
Beckley, with the Rev. Loretta Taylor officiating. Burial will follow
in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

Friends may call two hours before service Saturday at the funeral
home.

Pallbearers will be David Morton, Eugene Derringer, David and Steven
Donell, Brandon Williams and Brandon Thornquest.

Freddie D. Jarrell

Freddie D. Jarrell, 68, of Fayetteville (Fayette County WV), formerly
of Prosperity (Raleigh County WV), passed away Thursday, July 6,
2006, at a Virginia hospital.

Born April 15, 1938, at Ameagle (Raleigh County WV), he was the son
of the late Harvey and Martha Felty Jarrell.

Freddie enjoyed fishing, bluegrass and spending time with his family,
friends and neighbors, especially his grandchildren. He was a member
of the UMWA and served two terms as president of Local 1330.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his
stepmother, Tessie Stover-Jarrell; a sister, Janice Comer; and three
brothers, Elgie, Bill and Paul Ray Jarrell.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Muriel Smith
Jarrell; two sons, Gregory and wife, Carla, of Mount Airy, N.C., and
Ricky and wife, Melissa, of Prosperity; three grandchildren, Kellie
Draughon and husband, Kevin, Ryan Jarrell and Rickayla Jarrell;
stepgrandson, Jared Horn; brother, Frank Jarrell and wife, Wanda, of
New Martinsville WV; sister, Zelphy Flora of Point Pleasant WV;
brother, Pat Jarrell and wife, Wanda, of Sophia WV; sister, Jean
Smelser and husband, Ray, of Arizona; sister, Ann Thomas and husband,

Felty is a nickname of Valentine. I have an old, broken tomestone of my 3rd GGrandfather, "Valentine Felty, 29th Illinois Infantry." He was from Butler Co, Ky.

On comparing your data with mine, we have all the same people and same dates EXCEPT for Conrad Felty. Check out the birth years on your data ...

Notice that Conrad Felty would have had to be 86 years old when (William) Michael was born. I have Conrad Felty being born in 1749. He would have been 22 when (William) Michael Felty . And, my Conrad Felty had nine other kids who have been traced down to today's people.

I've been through some of the passenger lists of Felty's coming to Philadelphia and who signed the loyalty oaths, but I was unable to tie any of them to my Felty line . I know that Harold Guy Felty had a good reputation as a genealogist and wrote a book on Felty's of Southern Illinois, but it looks like he pulled this connection out of thin air. I was supposed to get some copies of his work from his son, but have never received any. Maybe for good reasons?

Thanks for the reply. It looks like two different Felty brothers came from Germany and linked up and traveled together ending up in Carmi. Our family oral history talked of four Felty brothers coming over to the USA. I know that there is a Heinrick Felty came over about 1746 on the Charming Nancy and took the oath of alligence. Also, a Nicholas Velte came about the same time. And, a Conradt Felt, born in 1798 and came over in 1746 on the Neptune

Now, if someone can just tie these different branches together. DO yo9u have any other family information on your Conrad Felty back in Germany?

I don't recall where I got the 1746 date for my John George Felty (born 1714 in Germany) arriving. His arrival had to before 1740 since his first child was born in America.

I believe Harry Wes Felty is th son of my fathers first cousin Harry that lived in McLainsboro (sp), Illinois when I was a kid. They moved to Urbana later. Seems I do remember he had a son that moved to Virginia, maybe remembering something that did not happen either. This is such a shot in the dark! An ancestor of mine, Sarah Leah Nancy Harrell, was supposedly married to a Felty before she married Samuel Job Fulks. This would have been in the Wythe County, VA area in the late 1700's. Anyone know anything about this??

Hay, I got some of that oil money. When my dad Wesley Ronald Felty of Carmi, White County, IL died, I got a check for about $4.00 for quite a few years.
I’m descended from John George Felty (know to some others as George John Felty) who was born in Germany in 1714, who came to America in 1746, and who died in 1790 in Bethel Township, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania. Some of the family stayed in Pennsylvania where I believe they still are, some went to Kentucky, and some eventually went to Southern Illinois, Carmi, White County, Illinois. That’s where my father was born and died. I live in Washington State.
Through DNA testing I found another Felty who lives in Virginia. We not only had a different DNA match for Felty’s but my research was able to link from me to him by going back five generations and coming down a different son. Also, his family and my family lived about eight miles apart in Illinois back in 1920. He and I and my brother seem to be the only Felty’s of that line that left Illinois. He also has Valentine's original tombstone in his bedroom. It had broken off and been replaced.
I’ll be glad to make contact and see if we can confirm a relationship and share any Felty data. I would love to break through that 1714 brick wall. I believe that the Felty family name has changed over time. At least one of John George’s sons changed the name to the more proper German “Feld” (but his kids changed it back). My understanding is that Felty is the Scottish version of Feld, Feldy, Felde, Felt, Felte, Velt, Velty, Velte, and even Valentine (Americanized version of Velte).

On the original post, my records disagree with yours. I have John George arriving in America in 1746 and John Conrad was born three years and three kids later.
Valentine Felty is also down my line and an interesting name. It is rather redundent. I descended down from his son Issac Newton while you came down through Miledge. Do you know that you have a cousin in Vergina? But, he came down from Miledge's son Harry.

Well, John, you have to bemore explicite. John George Felty, born in 1714 in Germany and who arrived in America in 1746 had five sons, all of which he named John. So, in a family with six Johns and two John George's, the sons went by their middle names.

I have complete records back to 1714 and would be glad to share it and I would love to break through that brick wall od 1714.

I would say that we are related but that we can down from Gearoge Felty by different paths as did the other Butler County Felty's. I suspect that all Felty's in the US are related through George Felty.

Did you know that George Felty and several of his sons fought in the Revolutionary War? Some are listed in the SAR. Down my line, they also fought in the Civil War. Some of their records are listed on my Ancestry.com Web Page, Baker/Felty.

I am the end of one line of the Felty's, on done from Conrad, that mostly ended up in Carmi, White County, Illinois. Quite a few Felty's came through there.

I question two facts here. I'm quite sure that the name from 1714 was John George Felty, not George John. Part of the family history is that John George had five sons, all of which he named John. They used their middle names.

Also, the marriage between John George Felty and Anna Maria Heilze could not have been 1796. That was 25 years after their last child. It was probably before 1740 based on the birth date of their first child.

Other tidbits, John George fought in the Revolutionary war and I believe is listed in the DAR but I haven't received a confirmation on that.

Oh, I have two or three more generations back on Anna Maria Heilze, but like everyone else, I can't seem to get John George Felty 1714 back any further.

No, I haven't ever been on this board before.

In that time frame, my Felty's were Sylvanus Felty 1864-1930 and his son Orlando (Arlie) Felty 1887 - about 1950. Then, there were my father and I both "Wesley R. Felty". There were a number of other Felty's in Carmi at the time you mention.
There is a Felty Cemetary on Sylvanus's old farm West of Carmi. It shows up on Google Earth.

It definitly looks like John George Felty came from somewhere else. Felty is the Scottish version of Feld, Felde, Velt, or Valentine but I haven't been able to get back past 1714 on the Felth line.

This information really comes from Harold Felty (deceased) of Urbana, IL. My father second cousin. Conrad Felty arrived in Philadelphia aboard the Charming Nancy and signed an othe of allegiance to the colonies. Forgot the year but prior to 1776. Decendants are Valentine, Miledge Winfield, William (my grandfather), Wayne (sons Darrell-Max sons Eric and Joseph) Milledge (wife Celia Dart)is buried in New Burnside, IL in the Catholic Cemetery. These blogs are old and I don't know if any ofthis really will get through to anyone. White county, IL was there primary residence. In the early 50's, there was some excitment relating to possible inheritance of oil money/lands in that area. MIlledges chidren are as I remember William, Earnest, Ivy and two more I cannot remember right now. All lived in Stonefort, IL.
