The year is 2009 Hello Lois if you read this alot of years have gone by, but I wanted to let you know I found all the Fenske's, that were born, in Poland, Some Prussia, some Germany, and then the ones that were born after the ancestors, came over. I traced them through the Border Crossings coming from Europe, to parts in the U.S., and help some help from others. But my Fenskes, were never in Wisconsin, or Eastern states, the main one Augusta, he had two wives, one died in Europe, and he md. Agnes Bartel, in Kansas, he has previous child, one Ratslaff, then they had alot of children, found them all, so Californian's most of them were, and dozens of them are buried in the Dinuba, California, a little town, in Tulare Co., so I wanted to let you know. One thing is for sure, they kept naming their kids over and over the same name as the other families named their kids, it got very confusing too.

When I saw your posting I thought I might be able to help you, but seems the Fenske kept naming their children the same names over and over. My Fenskes, came from the Border Crossings and into Kansas, then California, and most of them lived and died there. David and Emil Fenske, were the sons of August Fenske, and Anges Bartel, anyone related to them, let me know, we can exchange data.
Hi,
Thanks for posting re: Fenske name.

I would like to know alittle more about your information - How do you know this family comes from Posnan? And, do you have any birthdates for these Fenskes?
I have only very old information on this family - my ggg grandmother, before she married, was a Fenske. That takes it way back to early 1700's or so. She married Martin Kosanke. I'm pretty sure they lived close to Gdansk/Dansig, and along the Pommeranian areas of the Baltic Sea.

It is interesting to me that you have found Fenskes from Posnan, Poland!
Janet
You may contact me directly at janls@mac.com, if you wish.

Jerry,
I am replying to a post that is quite old. You may have your answers by now or have given up. Initially it looks as if you might not have any connection to the Fenskes I am connected with OR the Fenskes Debby was talking about a number of years ago. We have concluded those two families are likely related, but cannot determine definitively how.
In my line of Fenskes there is a Johann Gottlieb from quite a way back. He had a son Johann (K)Carl who would be my great, great grandfather. The only date I have is Johann Carl was married in 1836 to Wilhelmina Neumann. It is entirely possible there were other siblings in that family.
My resource is a family tree prepared by an uncle of mine, but he probably only included folks who were in direct line to his/my family.
If any of this is of any value, feel free to respond.

Christine Scallon

Hi again,
I am replying to your first inquiry, not the most recent which I cannot track down. I got to thinking--the Wilhelm I(b.circa 1850) whose parents I am trying to track down, WAS located in Danzig at the end of his life. We do not have a death date, though. It appears he died sometime after 1918 in or near Danzig. IF YOU KNOW HOW TO OBTAIN RECORDS FROM DANZIG (in English), could you share that information even though we are not looking for the same person? I would appreciate it.
As you probably have noticed, Wilhelm, Augusta and Fenske were rather common names.
Again, good luck. Thanks again.

Christine Scallon

Hi,
Thanks for replying. We have communicated via message board before. Again, I do not think we are talking about the same family. Wilhelm and Augusta did not have a child named Fredick Wihelm. They did have a son named Wilhelm, but he was born in 1880 and settled in the Chicago area. He was one of only two of the children to come to the U.S. and as far as I know, was born in Pr. Friedland.
I was looking for Wilhelm I's parents. Good luck with your research.

Christine Scallon

It looks like you have more information than I do. My great grandfather was Frederick Wilhelm Fenske who was born in Danzig, Germany (Prussia) on May 3, 1878. Danzig is modern day Gdansk, Poland. He came to the USA around 1884. The 1910 US census shows him living in Philadelphia, PA with wife Rose, son Edward O. (my grandfather), and Bertha. My father was Edward Fenske (born July 23, 1927). I have been looking for information about Frederick's parents. Sounds like they were Wilhelm and Augusta. I would appreciate any information you have about them. Edward C. Fenske

A number of genealogy gal pals and I are searcing for a connection between two branches of a Fenske family originating in Pr. Friedland/Prussia. We are in need of information about Wilhelm Fenske married to an Augusta Schlieske or Augusta Braun and born about 1850-1854. Wilhelm and Augusta had 10 children beginning about 1874. Specifically we are looking for who Wilhelm's parents were.
Does anyone have this information?

I am looking for confirmation of William Schlieske's (b. 1841 in Germany) wife's full name. I have her listed as Minnie(maiden name unknown). I suspect she is a sister of my great grandfather, but have no specific confirmation of that guess. I do know this Minnie was born in Germany in 1838, as was my great grandfather's sister. My guess is Minnie's full name was either Augusta Wilhelmina or Wilhelmina Augusta Fenske. Her mother would have been Wihelmina Neumann and her father, Karl Fenske.
Minnie and William had the following children Ernest, William A.,Charles, Albert and Minnie. If there are any descandants out there that have ANY information, I would be happy to hear from them.
Thanks so much.

Christine Scallon

 Hi,
You are correct. Otto was my father and I have no information about Virginia's family. I do, however, have somewhere in my e-mail address book Richard Fenske (Virginia and Albert's son) e-mail should you wish to contact him and do not have it already. His sister, Fran, is deceased. Fran's husband, Phillip Bade is still living.
Hugo was never married and did not have any descendants. Good luck with your research.

In 1920 Maude C. Pierce of Parker, Morrison, MN age 31 was married to Herbert C. Pierce (43).

Daughters were:

Nellie V. Pierce (10) born 8-31-1909 died 2-26-1997 in Little Falls, Morrison, MN

Anna J. Pierce (5) born 7-9-1905 and died 3-4-1997 in Wells, Fairbault, MN.

These two sisters married two Fenske brothers.

Anna married Edward August Fenske and Nellie married Gustaf W. Fenske Jr. They also had another brother Albert (grandfather of my husband) and sister Lydia Fenske who married Wm. Schrode. There is another sister Elsie who married Gerald Walters.

The complication is that brother Albert Herman Fenske married a woman named Lydia so she bacame Lydia Elizabeth Fenske. Her maiden name was Lydia Elizabeth Fuchs, daughter of Jacob Fuchs and Elizabeth Mueller of North Dakota. Lydia Elizabeth Fuchs was 1 of 7 children.

How are you related?

My husband still has family in MN and ND that we keep in touch with.
Hello everyone, Thought I should take a minute to explain my connection to the Fenske line... My mother was Gladys Ann Shufelt, her mother was Gertrude May Pechin, Shufelt, and her sister was Maude C. Pechin, Pierce she married Herbert Pierce and they had 3 daughters one died at about age 12 and the other two married the Fenske brothers. I have found the children or some of them alive and still living in MN. I use to live in Spokane, but my wife and I have since relocated to Oregon in the Salem area. Richard
