here is my work in progress on the Dyer family . The Nnacy Dyer who married to Douglad G. Ferguson was a sister to My GGGG Grandfather Isaiah Robert Dyer
I AM THE GREAT GREAT GRANDSON OF HERMAN ENGLISH DYER SR . HERMAN ENGLISH DYER SR WAS THE SON OF ISAIAH WASHINGTON DYER , ISAIAH WASHINGTON DYER WAS THE SON OF ISAIAH ROBERT DYER , ISAIAH ROBERT DYER WAS THE SON OF JOHN W. DYER ,JOHN W. DYER WAS THE SON OF ISHAM DYER , ISHAM DYER WAS THE SON JOHN DIER .

GENERATIONS :

HERMAN E.DYER SR & DELLA ANN BURNETT
ISAIAH WASHINGTON DYER & MARTHA GLENN
ISAIAH ROBERT DYER & FRANCIS P. GAMBILL
JOHN W. DYER & LUVINIA NORTON
ISHAM DYER & MARTHA VADEN
JOHN DIER & CAME TO VIRGINIA PRIOR TO DEED ISSUED IN 1697 .

DYER FAMILY FROM HENRICO AND CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA TO RUTHERFORD COUNTY , TN .

JOHN DIER CAME FROM THE BRISTISH ISLES .
A DEED IN CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VIRGINIA COURTHOUSE 26 AUG 1697 SHOWS DUE THE PAYMENT OF 650 ACRES FOR HIS IMPORT PAYABLE TO CAPT . WILLIAM RANDOLPH . THE DEED WAS ISSUED IN WHAT WAS THEN HENRICO COUNTY .JOHN DIER IS LISTED WITH TEN OTHERS ON THIS DEED -CHESTERFIELD COUNTY DEEDS 1637-1750 -PAGE 16 .

ON 31 AUG 1716 JOHN DIER RECIEVED LAND IN THE AREA OF OLD TOWN CREEK IN BRISTOL PARIAH AREA OF WHAT IS NOW CHESTERFIELD COUNTY .

JOHN DIER MADE HIS WILL 10 JULY 1779 IN CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA . I ALSO HAVE THE DATE OF 7 OCT 1779 ,CHESTERFIELD COUNTY VIRGINIA WILL BOOK # 3 , PAGE 426 , 3 PAGES TOTAL .

HIS SON ISHAM WAS MADE EXECUTOR FOR HIS WILL ON 5 MARCH 1784 .

IN THE 1787 CENSUS OF VIRGINIA A JOHN DYER IS LISTED IN CHESTERFIELD COUNTY ON TAX LIST A ,PAGE 762 AND ON TAX LIST B ,PAGE 775

IN THE 1790 CENSUS OF VIRGINIA FOR CHESTERFIELD COUNTY A ISHAM DYER, A JOHN DYER SR , AND JOHN DYER JR ARE LISTED ON PAGE 50

WE LEARN FROM EARLY CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VIRGINIA DOCUMENTS THAT JOHN DIER HAD THE FOLLOWING CHILDREN :

1.) JOHN DYER JR - BORN BEFORE 1716 - HE WAS THE FATHER OF AN ISHAM DYER AND MOST PROB THE JOHN DYER WHO SHOWS UP IN RUTHERFORD COUNTY IN 1803 AND 1810 .

2.) ISHAM DYER BORN BEFORE 1730 - FROM WHOM MY LINE COMES MORE ON HIM LATER .

3.) HANNAH DYER

4.)EDITH DYER

5.) ABRAHAM DYER -BORN BEFORE 1737

6.) AMEY DYER WHO MARRIED GERELD SCOTT - JUNE 13, 1791 IN DINWIDDLE COUNTY, VIRGINIA

7.) THOMAS DYER -BORN BEFORE 1728

{THE JOHN DIER WHO CAME CAME OVER PRIOR TO 26 AUG 1697 - GAVE LAND TO HIS SON JOHN, AND HIS GRANDSONS : ISHAM,ABRAHAM AND JOHN ON 7 OCT 1779 (- CHESTERFIELD COUNTY WILL BOOK 3 # 426 -3 PAGES .) BECAUSE NONE WERE RESTRICTED THEY WERE ALL AT LEAST 21 YEARS OF AGE - ( CHESTERFIELD COUNTY WILLS 1774-1795 PAGE 42 ) WE SEE FROM THIS OUR JOHN DYER WAS THE GRANDSON OF JOHN DIER - SOME HAVE CLAIMED THAT HIS SON JOHN WAS THE FATHER OF OUR JOHN WHICH WOULD MAKE HIM JOHN III A NOTE IN THE DIVISION OF ESTATE OF JOHN DIER IN CHESTERFIELD COUNTY ON 19 MARCH 1794 SHOWS HIM ALSO AS SON OF JOHN DYER , DECD . I DISAGREE ON THE BASIS OF BOTH THE RECORDS OF CHESTERFIELD COUNTY AND THE WORK DONE BY OTHER RESEARCHERS INTO THE MATTER AT THE CHESTERFIELD COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY IT SHOULD ALSO BE NOTED THAT THE THEIR IS NO CLEAR REFERANCE TO JOHN DYER III IN CHESTERFIELD COUNTY RECORDS . IT IS CLEAR HOWEVER BEYOND DOUBT THAT JOHN DYER WAS THE GRANDSON OF JOHN DIER WHO IS LISTED FIRST IN 1697 .THE WILL OF JOHN DIER WAS PROVED BY H. RANDOLPH ON 6 JULY 1794
HE LISTED AS DECD IN 1800 CENSUS OF VIRGINIA .

I CLAIM THE GENERATION IN BETWEEN THE JOHN DYER WHO IS LISTED FIRST IN 1697 AND THE JOHN W. DYER WHO CAME TO WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE FROM VIRGINIA IN 1812 , IS ISHAM { WHILE SOME OTHERS CLAIM JOHN } AS OTHER COUNTY RECORDS SHOW AND ALSO BECAUSE NO JOHN DYER IS LISTED AS SON AT THE TIME OF PROBATE FOR JOHN DYER JR , THUS THE LINE BEING -JOHN DIER, ISHAM DYER AND THEN HIS SON JOHN W. DYER .}

ISHAM DYER -SON OF JOHN DIER

WAS BORN IN CHESTERFIELD COUNTY PRIOR TO 1730 HE WAS MARRIED TO MARTHA VADEN AND HE DIED AFTER MARCH 1794 .ISHAM IS MENTIONED :
