I have the following established in a book on the Ferguson Family: The story of James Wiley Ferguson. The wording is flowery and refers to an ancestor Annie Laurie who married James Fergus the leader of a clan Fergus. They supposedly lived in Maxwelton House, Caledonia, Scotland around 1709. Their son John, married Margaret Douglas, the daughter of a Scottish nobleman. John and Margaret lived at Craig-darroch House,?, Scotland. Their son Andrew Ferguson, left and went to Ireland and married Mary Fitzpatrick. Supposedly to claim an ancient estate. My guess it is when King Henry sent the Brits and Scots to settle northern Ireland to get it under his control. William Ferguson, Andrew and Mary Fitzpatrick's son, set out for America and settled in Kings Mountain, South Carolina around 1763. Before settling he married Eleanor White Ferguson. There a son Robert, or Robin was born. Robin is then mentioned being at the Battle of Kings Mountain when about sixteen years of age, relieving the distress of the wounded soldiers by quenching their thirst with the pure mountain water which he brought from a spring near by. Perhaps William died there, for we hear of him no more, nor of Eleanor White Ferguson. Here is my question. The person that wrote this book is no longer living and to according to my current research did not leave any of the proof with anyone. Do I have to recheck all of this to count it? While it sounds like they might have checked this stuff out (it was written in 1925) it is awfully flowery. I need opinions from others as to whether to count this.
