Surnames: Etier, Dougherty, Dolan, Londrigan, Beck, Elder
I am a descendant of Joseph Etier, one of two, of the earliest settlers of Caldwell Parish...his son John and Johns daughter Eulalie Etier.
First Ferrands to set foot on what is now Caldwell Parish...Hypolite and Alfred Ferrand. Hypolite, born in Paris France, and soon after his birth the family fled during the days of the French Revolution to America, settling in new Orleans where Alfred was born five years later. The two brothers set out northward and settled on land then in the wilderness on the Ouachita River. Property they settled on is now known as "Synope Plantation". It is here they spent the rest of their lives.Hypolite was born Nov. 18, 1800...died Aug. 17,1881...buried in the Fellowship Cemetery. No marker for Eulalie who died May 23,1884 at the age of 71. ...Alfred born on July 20, 1805, died July 4, 1877, buried old Ferrand Cemetery.
Catherine Ferrand married a Mr. Reagan and moved to Arkansas.
This info was obtained through " Caldwell Parish in Slices" by H. Ted Woods.
Book has more info on Ferrands...six pages, and four pictures. One showing John A. Ferrand and daughter Margaret. Book was difficult to obtain, yet may be available.
I too would like info on "Ferrand Reunion".
