Hello Donna,

This may be of interest:

Caleb LeCount & Jane Smith

IV 6. Caleb Lecount, son of John Lecount and Hannah Ferris, according to the Lecount family Bible, was born December 17, 1802. His date and place of death and burial are unknown.

In about 1827, Caleb was united in marriage to Jane Smith, probably in Phillipstown, Putnam County, New York. Jane was born in about 1805, daughter of Richard Smith of Phillipstown. She also may have used the name Maria or else Caleb was married twice. Their known children, all probably born in Phillipstown, were:

V 1 William John born 1828
V 2 Jordan 1830
V 3 Ferris 1838
V 4 Susan 1840
V 5 Minerva 1843
V 6 Joseph 1849

In the 1830 U.S. Census, Caleb Lecount was listed as the head of a family in the Town of Phillips, composed of 1 male and 1 female between 20 & 30 years of age, and 2 males under 5 years of age. The children's ages agree with the birth dates of William John and Jordan Lecount.

In the 1850 U.S. Census Caleb was listed as a 48 year old laborer living in Nelsonville, New York, with his 41 year old wife Maria and their six children: Jordan, a 20 year old mason; Ferris, age 12; Susan, age 10; Minerva, age 7; Ellen, age 4; and 1 year old Joseph Lecount. Also living with the family was his 87 year old mother, Hannah Lecount.
