Several members of my family have researched the descendents of Alvin Frederick Feuerbacher and Emma Hernsdorf (married around 1869 in Dresden, Germany). Alvin was born Sept 9, 1846 in Saxen, Germany and Emma was born January 16, 1850 in Meissen, Germany. We have much info on all the descendents but can find nothing on Alvin before coming to America in 1883. Alvin supposedly was a theatrical carpenter in Vienna just prior to immigrating. We have found Emma's family and can trace back to early 1600's through church records. Family lore says that Alvin was a Marxist atheist and left Germany for political reasons. He never spoke of Germany except to tell his children that his mother's name was Hedwig. He arrived in Baltimore and supposedly stayed for awhile in Pennsylvania with an uncle who was a blacksmith. He made his way to St. Louis seeking another uncle, then to New Orleans looking for another uncle. He ended up settling in Austin, TX where he helped build the TX capitol. He died May 16, 1926 and Emma died Feb 3 1925 both in Austin . The children of Alvin Emma were Paul, Otto, Frank, Gus, Max, Annie Hugo (all born in Germany) and Minna, Edmund, Carl, Rosa, Willie (born in America). I am looking for anyone else researching this family name and any information about Alvin prior to coming to America. Thanks, Kaye
