Graham - I was not informed of your message in 2006 and only saw it now. To recap what I know, Albert Packman 1864-1944(my great grandfather)had a daughter, Ella Gladys, who married Walter Edward Fever and they had a daughter, Ella who married a Cowdery. I came accross an old Kent message board of 2002 where an Emma Hardy was researching this family too, but the email address was out of date. (If you see this message could you get in touch). Can you add any further details.

Thanks for adding to this thread. Strangely enough I tried to contact you in June through your web site - but the "Contact" button did nothing. I had Googled "John Fever" and found your site.

My tree goes back (with help from others) to Francis Fever (b c1748) who married Hannah Whatman. One correspondent has suggested that his father was John (b c1734, and married to Catherine). Your tree comes from the other direction.

On your website you had John Fever (b ?) married to Ann Weare (b 1687) in Sandhurst in 1714. They could be either the parents or grandparents of John (b 1734).

I did have a couple of hours in the Centre for Kentish Studies back in June but could not find the link - if one exists!

I replied to your later e-mail on my thread first, before I saw this one.

On my tree I also have I have "pencilled in" a John Fever (b. c1692) and Ann Wear (b. c1687) as possible grandparents of Francis b c1750. I believe that it is possible that Ann had a brother John who in turn may have been father to Francis - but I have no strong evidence of this link.

I have Ann Fever (b. c1709) married to Samuel Coleman
(b. c1704) in my family tree. (These are my gt grandparents x 7).

I also have John Fever (b. c 1692) and Ann Wear (b. c1687) as Ann's parents.

I would be glad to hear from anybody who has any further information on this branch of the Fever family in the UK (Kent/Sussex areas).

my mom was nellie fever, married george willis in stoke on trent staffs, her father was frederick H fever, mother sarah A..........maiden name of mother...sandford.
I never met my grandparents but i rem my mother saying originally they came from kent.
My mom had a childhood illness affecting the central nervous system.During the war she had a relationship with an american pilot, harry walburg, had a daughter LInda.....later adopted within the family...if u can help me find any family members...contact...diannewillis54@hotmail.com

Do not know of any connection, but my grandmother (Emma Fever) had 13 children!

Fever must have been French originally.

Charles was born 1801 in Throwley. His wife was Catherine from Shelwich. Adelaide was with her grandfather in the 1851 census. Do not know if this is of any help!

Thank you for the information on George and Emma. You suggest that George's father is Thomas born 1832 Newnham, do you have any more details? I have not yet made the connection, but Thomas 1832 is part of my tree.

Again I have little to add - but maybe any little helps.

I started a couple of years ago with the idea that all Fever's in Kent are related - but that is easier said than proved. In a failed attempt to forge links between families I have tabulated a spreadsheet of the Census data for all the Fe(a)ver's in Kent.

From this I asume that we are all talking about the family that, in 1891 were listed as:(if this dosn't format OK I can e-mail)

Fever, Faversham
George C 1860 Brompton Head
Emma J 1861 Sheerness Wife
Jane E 1881 Faversham Daughter
Ada 1884 Faversham Daughter
Edith 1888 Faversham Daughter
Arthur 1890 Faversham Son

and in 1901 as:

Fever, Davington (Faversham)
George 1860 Brompton Head
Emma 1861 Sheerness Wife
Ada 1882 Faversham Daughter
Arthur 1891 Faversham Son

Unless I made a mistake in transcription no Walter who should have been about 8.

Going back, I think that, from the 1861 census) George's father is probably Thomas:

George 1860 Gillingham Son

Brompton is in Gillingham.

I don't have anymore information on descendants. Not much on ancestors either I'm afraid, but Walter's father George Charles Fever was born c1859 in New Brompton. His wfie Emma James Fever was born 1860 Sheerness and her father was James. That's about the sum total of the information I have. Hope this is of some help.

We are prabably very, very, very distantly related. Francis Fe(a)ver (who married Sarah Osborne) was, in turn, the son of Francis (who married Hannah Whatman) . Francis the elder is my g-g-g-g-g-grandfather (I think i've got that right!). If you would like to contact me on the above e-mail address I will try to help - but a lot of my information is second, third (or more) hand. Out of interest which tree are you looking at - is it the Amos and Necia Bennet tree?

Mary Fever/ Feaver Kent (Wittersham/Benenden)

I am descended from a Mary Fever who married William Durrant in 1824 and then lived in Benenden, Kent.

I believe from a tree on Ancestry that Mary was born in Wittersham in 1804. I would certainly be interested to hear from anyone who is also related to these Fevers.

The tree says that Mary's parents were Francis Fever and Sarah Osborne.

Searching for the wife of Joseph Clark who is Margaret with possibly the last name Fever. They were married before 1764. She d. before 1810.

Joseph was b. about 1744 in Scotland. He was a blacksmith to Samuel French of Tryon Co. Parish St. Marks and owned land on both sides of Green River in 1766.

Fever seems not to be a very common name, however, a William Fever is reported to have come to America very early. I know nothing else about him. Would appreciate any help.

Both sides of my mother's family were Fever's.

i.e. Both my grandparents had the same name before marriage!

I don't know of any going to the States but it was a large family and quite a common name in this part of the U.K.
Originally Huguenot I think.

Hello - My great great grandmother was Emma Fevers from Doncaster, Yorkshire, England born 1814. Her father was Thomas Fevers from Doncaster and her mother was Ann.

Emma Fevers married Joshua Stones in 1838 and they lived in Sheffield, Yorkshire.
Perhaps there's a connection? Yes, I'm surprised there's so little interest in this surname too! Jeanne

I have just learned about a Kentish Fever in my family tree. A sister of my grandfather, Ella Packman, married a Walter Edward Fever probably in 1922 in Faversham district. I am looking for descendants but have no further details at present.

As your family are from the Faversham area, I wonder whether you have a connection to Charles Fever born abt 1806 (from 1861 census) at Throwley.

He is living as Father in Law to John Wood aged 39 b Throwley and wife Emma Wood aged 33 b Sheldwich and five Wood children.

My cousins and I are researching the Roalfe family. We have a marriage certificate for James Roulf (sic) and Adelaide Wood married at St Michaels Canterbury on the 27 May 1866, Fathers name John Wood. However Adelaide is listed as formerly Lefever on her chidrens birth certificates and I have found a birth of Adelaide Fever Mach Q 1847 in the Faversham distict and wondered if Adelaide was the base born child of Emma.

If you have a connection to this family, I have further details for Adelaide.

I am only just starting and am surprised how little interest there appears to be in my unusual surname. I believe that my great grandfather, Alfred (b1862), and his father, Edward (b1838 or 9) both came from the Maidstone area of Kent. I am interested in hearing from anyone else with an interest in Kentish Fevers.
