Tennessee ‘Tenney’ Gober married William Fewell and lived in Sonoma Co., CA on the 1910 Sonoma Co., CA census. By 1920, Tenney and son Cecil Fewell were alone, without William. The family moved from Reynolds Co., MO to Sonoma Co., CA before 1890.

The Redwoods Journal
Ukiah, Mendocino County, California

Saturday, May 7, 1938

Assistant Mortician to E. Fewell will be an assistant to E. H. Schamber, funeral director of Cleland’s mortuary, commencing, May 15. The new employee learned the mortician’s profession while going to grammar school, and following graduation from high school, attended a San Francisco morticians’ college. Fewell and his wife have taken an apartment in the Williams apartments on North State street.
Monday, June 16, 1940
Mother Is Guest
Mr. and Mrs. CECIL W.

From what I have read Elizabeth A Fewell is an anomaly with everyone in the air because of not knowing who her parents were. I think her parents were James Fewell and Malinda Lail. As to her husband, I do not have any idea. I note on the 1900 Census that she is living with a C.F. Davis-58-born in TX. Elizabeth A Fewell-54-born in Ark is listed as his cousin, but it states he has adopted the two girls still with Elizabeth. Ollie B and Annice O Fewell. Although Elizabeth is saying she had two girls and two are still alive, she raised a Florence Ellen Fewell. In talking via email with relatives, it is believe that the oldest child, Florence is the daughter of James Fewell and Malinda Lail. They had too many children to care for and believe that Elizabeth took this sister to raise. Now as to the other two daughters, why did she call them Fewell's, was it because she was living with a married man? C. F. Davis on th 1900 census states he has been married 30 years but yet he adopted Annice and Ollie Belle. I would say these two children are his. This is what I have garnered from various information in viewing the census's and talking with their family. You may have a different viewpoint. Both these two daughters were born in Tex. There dad was born in TX and mom in Ark. Myrna Fewell DoRemus

You said you have all the way to Stephen Fewell. I only have the info I found on Ancestry and I don't have any documents except what I found on Ancestry. If you have photos can you share some also? My email is xshyone1@aol.com

Thanks,
Deborah

Hello,

I am searching for information on Willie Ray Fewell and his lineage. His mother is Selona Pierce b abt 1892, Arkansas. I found a 1910 census for a Benton J Fuel wife listed as slome b abt. 1895, Arkansas. Also listed was Edgar Pierce brother-in-law to Benton and Orson Pierce also brother-in-law to Benton. I cannot find any solid information on Willie Ray's father. His mother Selona, married several times. Other known last names for her were: Fewell/Fuel, Mangrum, Prater and Philips(maybe 2 L's?) Selona had at least 6 children: Willie, Fred Cecil, Gussie, Lelon, Charlie Willet and Liddie Prater. If anyone has any other information I would love to hear from you!!

aimlmcgrml@msn.com

Hi I am looking for Fewell family that is related to William (Willie) Ray Fewell born 1/03/1908 in Oklahoma and died 5/19/1987 in Madera California. All I have is his mother's name Selona Pierce. All I know about his father is that he was born in Arkansas. Willie had brother's and sister's, but the exact number is unknown. The names of siblings that I could find are as follows: Lelon Fewell, Gussie Fewell, Fred C. Fewell and Charlie (Charles) Willett. All were born in Oklahoma. Willie Ray Fewell is my husband's grandfather. Willie had four children that we know of. Anne Simone Fewell, Jerry Fewell, Shirley Fewell and Billy Ray Fewell. If anyone has any information that would further my research into my husband's side of the family we would greatly appreciate it!!! aimlmcgrml@msn.com

where did you get the info that david fewell died in walker county, ala?he is listed in cherokee county, ala. in the 1860 census.the rest of the family are listed in the ala. state census in 1866 but david is not with them.elisha's first name came from rachel tolbert fewell's uncle rezin tolbert who owned a store in york county,s.c. and died in 1843. i have a copy of his will.elisha fewell is listed in 1919 texas deaths as dying in cottle county, texas. my father said that elisha was an itenerant tinker who traveled around the country in a horse and wagon reparing or building things for people.he met him a an early age when he visited family members in nyota, blount county, ala.james thomas fewell elisha's oldest son left tupelo,ms. around 1910 and moved to okla.i have lists of family from ronda fewell of tulsa.rachel fewell was living with a family named hendrix in 1870 at democrat, ala. near jasper.the census has her last name as pool.henry alexander fewell was illigetament.his birth father was probably henry alexander davidson who was born in york county,s.c. in 1827 and was killed in the civil war in 1864.his family moved to talapoosa county, ala at rockport.jimmy fewell

My husbands grandfathers name was Edward William Fewell (or William Edward...I cant remember). Everyone called him Edward or Eddie, so. He married a woman named Marie. They have several children. Barbara Caudill(Fewell), Darlene Meyers(Fewell), Mike Fewell, Mark Fewell, Deborah Fewell (not sure if she ever married), and I think thats it. I will try to look a little more into it. Unfortunately, I have been married to my husband for over 2 years and still don't know all his family :). Mark Fewell (my husbands father) married Kimberly Heflin and they had my husband, Mark Edward Fewell II, and his sister Brittney Hoffman(Fewell).

I will look into this more! I am very interested to see where his family derived from. They are not big "family" people so..I think Im on my own with this one :)

Hello

I married into the Fewell family in Rappahannock and Culpeper county Virginia. I am very intrigued by what you guys have found out already. There are two sets of Fewell's in Northern VA. However, I do not believe they are closely related. My side of the family lives in the Fauquier, Culpeper, and Rappahannock area's. The other Fewell's in VA live in The Plains (i believe) which is about 40 minutes away from where I am located now. My husband says none of his family has ever met them and don't believe to be related to them. But, I think if you have the same last name you would have to be related somehow right? hahaha. Anyway, I would be very interested to see what you guys have found!!

Your best bet is to start in Culpeper at the county office building and then the library. I don't know where you are coming from but I can tell you that the main highway in Culpeper will be Route 29 North. Where the library is I don't know.

I may know where Olin K. Fewell's grave is located. Is he buried in Greenwood Cemetery in Ft. Worth? I ran upon his tombstone about six months ago by accident, and was interested because he was a Fewell. I will check it out soon to be sure I remembered the name correctly. You may remember that I communicated with you a few months ago about Eula Mims and her sister Mary Lou Mims. I have updated my website since then if you want to look at it. I know it is a mess but I also found Eula Mims Mays oldest son Arthur Mays. My email address is cbmays006@hotmail.com if you want to contact me. I will let you know on this forum in a day or two if the grave I found is indeed that of Olin Kimber Fewell.
Yes, Pat is my sister. She is adopted, but still my sister. Gaines Myron Fewell married my mother, Betty Jean Lanter (born and raised in a suburb of Cincinnati called California Ohio) in early 1947 and I was born on June 28th, 1948. They were divorced sometime in 1950, about the time I was learning to walk and Gaines Fewell departed for Alabama and later married Betty Jo (can't remember her maiden name). She was unable to conceive and they adopted Pat. Pat's biological father was one of the crown princes of Lebanon who was in America for military training at Fort Benning GA. Her mother was a native of the Columbus GA region. Pat married a guy named Smith and they live on what was Gaines Fewell's land in Alabama not far from Phenix City. The info I posted on the board is all I know of the Fewells.

This is not a reply to a question, this is a question. I don't really know how to work this board. Hiram C J Fewel is my great grandfather. I am looking for Mary Sands Fewel for grandfather, Benjamin Franklin Fewel's sister. I have not been able to find anything on her except that she was born in Missouri in 1850. She was on that census and the 1860 census, but not the 1870. I have not heard anyone in the family speak about this woman. Do you have any information on her?
