Albin & Otto Ficker, Hohndorf, Germany

My grandfather was Albin Ficker, born 7-7-1896 in Germany, I think in Hohndorf/Holindorf. His brother was Otto Ficker, also born in Germany, but 6 years earlier, no specific birthdate. They came to the USA at least 1 time,on Mar 20, 1922, on the Haverford into Ellis Island, but probably 1 time before that and perhaps 1 time after that. After coming to USA, last names changed to Fisher. Albin Fisher married my grandmother, Alma Bernice Garrett, in Bowling Green, MO, in 1939. He later died in Pittsfield-Pike Co-IL in August 1981, 85 yrs old. On his death certificate, he listed Oscar Gustav Fisher(Ficker?)as his father and Christiane Wilhemine as his mother. I have no further info on his parents.
We think he had 4 brothers and 2 sisters, probably Otto, Max, ?Herman, ?Hugo, Helene, & Wilma. Albin always said that his brother Otto had a tumor on the right side of his neck, and when the dr's cut it open, it got much worse very quickly and he died in 1936.

Anyone have any further information on this family or any of its members. Oh, also, Albin always said that he was the youngest of the children.

Thank you ahead of time.

Fickers in MO

Elizabeth(b. 1815) and her sister Magdalena E.(b. 1814) Fickers married Charles J. Nordmeyer in Howard Co., MO. Both were from Germany and I have not been able to find any information about the Fickers line.

Elizabeth married 2 Dec 1840 and died 22 Nov 1848 after giving birth to my ggf, Lewis in June. Oral history has Charles sending to Germany for Elizabeth's older sister ,Magdalena E. and she had two children with Charles. Magdalena died in 6 Aug 1881. All three are buried in Washington Cemetery in Glasgow, Howard Co. MO.

While we have old letters from Germany dated 1834-7 that were written to Charles(probably Karl) in NY by his mother, Hannah(born abt. 1776) we have been unable to find this family. Charles was born 28 Oct 1813 in Verden, Kingdom of Hanover, first arrived in MO in 1838, and died 13 Feb 1902.

When Charles died ,a Paul Miller wrote to his son saying that he had read his obit in the paper and his wife was probably a cousin. We have not been able to find a copy of the obit.

Any leads will be welcome.

Penny
NM

I noticed Max Ficker on the 1900 Mason County, Texas census and he has a daughter named Mattie who was born about 1876. I bet my Mattie and your Max are brother and sister. Have you found any more information on this family? Thanks, Susan Doell

Franz Ficker from Austria 1879

I'm looking for information on Franz Ficker from Austria. In 1880 he was 66 years old and living with his daughter and her husband in Cheyenne Township, Barton County, Kansas. The census shows another Franz Ficker living with his wife, their son, Franz, and his mother, Therese, who also came from Austria in 1879, We strongly suspect that the 66 year old Franz and Therese were husband and wife, but don't know why they were living in seperate households. The 1900 and 1910 census shows that the youngest Franz Ficker had a sizable brood of children.

My Great great grandfather was Gustave Klug, the son of Ferdinand Klug and Julia Ficker . We are looking for information on the Ficker family.

Kurt or Herman does not ring a bell, but I only know names dating from 1891 to present... I have had an email off to someone who lived near Ludmilla (Millie) to see if they know anything about her real dad (Mr. Ficker) , (her mother remarried here). I also saw a birth certificate of Ludmilla Ficker's (came over from Austria) son, and her last name was spelled FRicker... but everyone isists that it was spelled Ficker ????

That would be great if you could find out.. as I am having a tough time finding anything since Ludmilla (a little girl at the time) her mother Sophia came here from Germany (possibly from Austria)??? I do not know if they had any other family members that came with them or not, Ludmilla did end up in Ohio. Actually.. Ludmilla Ficker's (1891-1962)
father may not have died.. maybe he came to America also but not with them?? Her mother Sophia was married 3 times, and not sure now which husband died..
Could any of your Ficker men have had a daughter about 1891 (maybe they themselves were born around 1869+).. and was her name Ludmilla (I found this was a popular name there).(they called her Millie).
Any help would be great.
Thanks!
