This is my mother-in-laws line. You can email me at pamela3015@sbcglobal.net. Elmira Reed Fickes was buried at the Grandview Cemetery next to her son-in-law John James Corbut (Rilla's husband) in Montrose, Colorado in 1899. She is the daughter of John Reed and Lydia Dale.

I do not have a death record for Solomon. He is the son of Jacob Fickes Sr. and Rosana Lingenfelter. I have the Lingenfelter line back quite a ways to Germany and the Fickes line back two more generations. I have the Reed line back about 4 more generations to Ireland. You may already know this.

I am positive that the Solomon and Almira Fickes you mentioned are my husband's great grandparents. This is the only direct line descendant we have had trouble with. We know Solomon was in Madison, Sandusky County Ohio in 1860. His son, Jeremiah, my husband's grandfather was born in Sandusky Ohio Aug. 7, 1866. Our records show that Solomon and Almira had the children Franklin and Dulcinda(could be Dulcinea?) in the 1860 census. Do you have records of their deaths and where they are buried? We know Solomon died before 1890 in Nebraska. I look forward to hearing from you soon!

ary Sue Fickes

Thank you anyway. I found her after I posted the message in the 1870 census in Columbus, Johnson, Missouri with Solomon and Almira Fickes and siblings Ella, Della or Dulcinea, Franklin and a Jeremiah Fickes. It looks like they were born in Madison, Sandusky, Ohio as that is where Solomon and Almira are in the 1860 census. She went by Mayrilla and Rilla, but her death record says her name was Mary Mayrilla and she was not indexed properly in the 1870 census.

I am looking for any info on Abram Fickes, son of John Fickes and Rebecca Weisel Fickes. He was married to my grandmother, Belle Gump, and left the area around 1910 or so to move to Wilkinsburg, PA. I see him living at home with his parents with and siblings Daniel, Thomas, Franklin, Sarah, Maria, Lucinc??? and EllsworthI in 1870 and he was 17 years old at that time. I am looking for info on him before 1910. He died sometime between 1930 and 1940 I believe in Wilkinsburg. Any help would be great.
I have finally found all the members of my Samuel Fickes family. I am still looking for Samuel's death date and burial place, however.
His wife, Esther Irwin ( instead of Owens) Fickes died in 1885 at Fairchild, Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Her daughter, whom she had not seen in 15 years, came to visit, and Esther, so excited at seeing her after all those years, had a stroke and died.

I was wondering if you could email me what it says or tell me where i could read it on the web. This may be her. I have a picture of her with her family taken i n Bedford, PA. If you would by any chance have any family photos I would love to exchange them to see if there is a resemblance. Please email me and let me know if you can help me.
Thanks bunches,
Helen

Fickes / Kincaid conection??

My grandfather was Joseph Lincoln Fickes( Born 1866-1937) married to Jesse Jane Williams, living in West Virginia. I've learned that the Fickes name was not Joseph's given name but has the name taken when he was raised by a Fickes Family after the death of his parents. His birth name was Kincaid. I've had no connection to people with the Kincaid name and don't know the names of his father and mother. Joseph and Jesse had five children - Herman 1903; Charles 1906, Thelma 1908-1911; Abert 1910-Jan1978, Hazel 1912. If you have any informaton about his family, an email would be appreceiated. I have too many loose ends that go nowhere?
trooper_38@yahoo.com

In the book "Adam and Susan Fickas" by Viva Freeman, Jost Fickes married Anna Regina Baier in 1739 in PA. In the information that I received from the DAR, Jost Fickes (Fix) married Hannah Regina Baier in December 1739 in York County, PA. I'd be very interested in any info you might find about the German origins of Jost and his parents.

In my records I have Jost Fickes born in 1717, Germany and he married Johanna Regina Baier 1739. Unclear if in Germany or here. He died in York county Pa. When he arrived in Pa. it was on ship William Oct. 31, 1737. Now Valentine was his brother or his father. there are 2 Valentine Fickes. I dont really know much about them and am looking further into the elder Valentine. He married Anna Margareth Wedebach. That is about all i know. If you can get a list of the passenger ship William you will find Jost Fickes on that date. Good luck. I am still verifying some of this info so i suggest you do the same because it has been difficult to get on this track.

Fickes in Ohio

Hi.
I am looking for information on 2 Fickes and their families. I hope to link them to the Fickes lines in Penna.
The first is Elizabeth Fickes. She was born on Sept 1, 1798 in Pennsylvania, and died on January 2, 1872, in Salinesville, Columbiana Co., Ohio. She married John Benjamin Goddard and proceeded to have 9 children: Elizabeth, Margaret, Frances Ann, James, Sarah Amanda, John, Benjamin Strewen, Julia Marie, and Nancy.
The second is Valentine Fickes. He was born abt 1825 in Ohio. He was the second husband to Sarah Amanda Welk. Her first husband was John Goddard (son of John Benjamin Goddard and Elizabeth Fickes). I have reason to believe that John and Valentine were cousins. After John's death during the Civil War, Valentine became guardian to John's children, married Sarah Amanda Welk and had at least one daughter: Martha.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
