Wilma, I appreciate your reply. I am reading "Trails and Tales of My People" by troy Baker Fields. This is not exactly a genealogy book but as the title indicates, trails and tales of the Fields Family in Kentucky. Troy does not list any Fields ancestors chronologically but does mention couples and who married whom. It is hard to follow the line in order of descent. However, this book is where I got the Hiram Fields and Fanny May as the parents of John Fields. Mr. Baker says there is no further informatiion on Hiram and Fanny other than seven sons were born to them. John is the one who made a name for himself as defender to the forts along the Watauga and Holston Rivers before migrating to Kentucky. since I haven't seen anything else to use for some of Esau's ancestor, I Am trying to piece things together from what Mr. Baker (a great grandson of John & Polly Fields) says in this book. These books are no longer available and only given to Fields Descendants. It took me several friends of friends to be able to obtain this book.
