My great grandmother was Mary Ann Fields who married Samuel S. Smock in 1847. Mary Ann it has been said was an illegitimate child of Margaret Fields of Perryopolis in Fayette Co. I have not been able to find the burial site for Mary Ann or her children William, Roley and Elzanna. From my great grandfather's biography it did not tell of what happened to Mary Ann and the children who were not living in 1889. This has been one of my great family mysteries. Any help would be sorely appreciated. Thanks

This line of Fields descends from the John Fields b. 1763 Bakersville, North Carolina who is documented in a Rev. War pension application dated 1832 in Perry County, Kentucky. Most researchers believe John was one of Davis Fields' sons, though there's no documentary evidence to back that up. It's believed Davis was born about 1740 and married Elizabeth Lansford. Their son Hiram Lansford Fields married Fanny Mays and is the progenitor of most of the Fields who settled in Eastern and North Eastern Kentucky. I am a descendant of this line.

John and Polly Fields had 10 children at least, with your Jacob being the 8th child born about 1810. I have him marrying Sarah Young on April 24, 1831 in Perry County Ky. They had 12 children: Rebecca, Elizabeth, George, Hannah Jane, James, Cromwell, Carter, Polly, Louisa, Garrison, Serena, and Jacob. Cromwell was born about 1842, according to census records. I have been unable to find Cromwell in any census after 1850, so I assume he went by another name. Hope this helps.

What iformation are you seeking? How are you related ? Lansford Fields was the father of Asa Fields. No records have been found with the name Hiram. This name has been passed around so much that some have even added Lansford as a middle name. However, all records so far are all under the name of Lansford. I and a few others have tried for years to get Hiram as a name out of the mix, unless or until someone has proof! So far, no one has offered any for that name.

There is more than one marriage of Asa's children into the Back family. Jincy's oldest brother, Willima Turner Fields married Rebecca Back, born 01 Feb 1825, Breathitt Co KY, a daughter of Lewis Back, b. abt 1789 VA & Elizabeth, b. abt 1798 SC. All of the Fields brothers left KY for AR & MO in the early 1850's. Asa is said to have come to AR also, but I have not found anything on him in AR or MO so far, other than a mention that he lived in AR in some old papers. So did Lewis & Elizabeth Back, as they are living close to Turner & Rebecca in 1860 in McDonald Co. MO. Turner and Rebecca are then in Madison Co. AR. Don't know when or where Lewis & Elizabeth died, as the 1860 census in MO is the last I find them.

Abraham was my husbands' GG-grandfather
What is your interest in these families? Are you writing a book, or???
Sam Fields, Tyler TX, Obituary

Memorial services for Sam Fields are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009, at Lloyd James Funeral chapel, Tyler, with the Rev. Alfred Darst officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Interment will follow the service at Cathedral in the Pines.

Beloved Sam left this life Aug. 15, 2009, at Hospice of East Texas HomePlace, Tyler, at the age of 52 after a short illness. He was born to Laura and Willard Fields on Oct. 31, 1956, in Grenada, Miss. He served eight years in the United States Navy. While stationed in Japan, he met and married his soul mate, Pam, and eventually settled in Tyler where they began their family - two greatly wanted and loved girls, Samantha and Sabrina. Sam was a member of the Masonic Far East Lodge No. 1 in Yokohama, Japan. He began his business career with The University of Texas Health Center, Tyler in 1984, and at the time of his death he was the director of Cardio-Pulmonary Services.

Sam is survived by his loving wife and daughters; his mother, Laura Fields; two brothers and their wives, James and Pam Fields and John and Cindy Fields; as well as numerous uncles and aunts and nieces and nephews; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Nancy Redman; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Beth Redman; and many co-workers and friends.

It is difficult to say goodbye to Sam. How much he will be missed because of his warm personality, his compassion for life and for others, his kindness and his willingness to always be of help to anyone who needed him. Most of all, he will be missed by the family he adored. He was the best of men.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, 75701.
Published in the Tyler Morning Telegraph on 8/20/2009
http://obituaries.tylerpaper.com/TylerPaper/Obituaries.asp?P...

Thanks for your info. My interst is through their dau Jane Ellen ( Jincy ). She marr Solomon C. Back Sr. who goes all the way back to Harmon Back b abt 1708 in Germanna. The Back family is one of the families that was part of the germanna germans who settle in Orange Co Va in the early 1700's. John Back Sr. son of Harmon marr Anna Margaret Huffman dau of my 7th generation grandparents John Huffman Sr. & Maria Folg. So Solomon would be related to me. Solomon comes down from Henry Back brother to my John. Here is his linage.
Solomon C. Back Sr son of John Back Sr. & Catherine Robinson
John Back Sr. son of Henry Back Sr. & Elizabeth Huffman another dau of John Huffman & Maria Folg.
Henry Back Sr. son of Harman Back Sr. b abt 1708 in Germany & Anna Margarethe Hausmann. So my ties to your husband's family is through the Backs. Hope this helps.
Ollie
