I just received from Missouri the death certificate of Henry Shipman, son of David & Mary Shipman. Henry's death certificate says his mother was Mary Davis, not Mary Fiester. This was a surprise--lots of DAR applications have been submitted saying that Godfrey Fiester's daughter Mary married David Shipman. Any idea how this tradition started? Maybe Mary FIester was David Shipman's first wife, and Mary Davis was his second wife?

Henry FEISTER and his brother Daniel settled his claim on 17 October 1851 with his land adjoining that of Henry S. COVEL. Henry Fiester died on 1 April 1854 and left the land to his widow Jane and brother Daniel. This was in Lewis County, Oregon Territory. Please contact me I have more to share. I am trying to find out if Henry Covel is related to me and if these Fiester's are all related.

Jim Covel

Bruce,
I have a picture of a Josephine Jones taken at Stein's Studio in chicago, maybe the early 20's. My father met her when she came to Hemingford, NE in I assume the 30's. On the back of the picure it says this is Raymond's girl, and it was sent to my aunt Violet Fiester. I also have a picture of Josephine with a little boy named Johnnie and one with my Grandfather Edward Fiester. Edward was the son of Henry Fiester and Cornelia Bilstein Fiester of Chicago, or maybe Gary, Indiana. I haven't been able to document anything on them, all I basically know is their names. Maybe we will hit on someting here.
Edwyna Fiester Weber

Hello Nancy,
I'm affraid that your Levi Feaster does not belong to our family group, Yet! Your group belongs, I believe, to the Swiss branch of the tree which may or may not connect to our Germany side, but as I've learned, there are Feaster, Fiester, Pfisterer and Pistor names throughout southern Germany, Switzerland, Austria and even southeastern France. The name is from the latin pistorious, which means baker in english and the first time the name was seen in print was approx 800 AD. I guess everyone that was a baker may have taken a derivative of the word pistorious and translated it into their own language.
I think if you check the Feaster spelling of the name on Ancestry.com message board you may get a better result. Thanks for your question, Al Barrett

My gr. gr. grandfather was Daniel Fiester who married Rachel Darling and came to Oregon in the 1840's. My gr. grandmother was, Harriett Fiester, b. 1851. Harriett married John (William or Warren) Bennett in Josephine Co. OR. I have just been to the Lee Mission Cemetery in Salem, OR where Daniel & Rachel Fiester are buried but there are no headstones for them. There is only one headstone and that is for William Clement Barker who I believe was married to Sarah W. Fiester, d. of Daniel & Rachel. I would like to exchange information with other descendants of Oregon Fiesters.

2nd National Fiester/Feaster Feister Family Reunion

Hello all Fiester/Feaster/Feister family "cousins". My name is Alson E. Barrett, Jr. I am the administrator of the Barrett/Feaster website on MyFamily.com Our website follows the descendancy of Godfrey Fiester born in Hesse-Kassel, Germany in 1746. I, with help from lots of other cousins, put together the 1st National Fiester Family reunion in Keiss Park, Muncy Creek Twp., Lycoming Co., PA in July of 2002. It was a great success! Well, I been asked if we could do it again! Same place, same time. I'd like to have your input! Many cousins receive the Barrett/Feaster Flyer, a newsletter I publish every month, that has this info in it. Please contact this message board or myself at alsonbarrett@myfamily.com if you have any thoughts about a 2nd reunion. Thanks so much for your time and consideration!

Laurenson 1849
Walter H. Laurenson 1 Apr 1861
Also looking for information on John Laurenson (b.15 May,1817, most likely in Liverpool England). Particularly on his death, place of burial, parents, and immigration.
At least Walter H.
passing along info on gottfried fiester

Godfrey is buried in the Immanuel Church in Muncy Creek twp. The land for the church
was donated by his friend, Henry Shoemaker. His tombstone is written in
English on one side and in German on the other. I visited there last May. I
stopped at the post office in Muncy and asked for the directions to the
church. I found much of my original information on the family at the Dauphin
Co. Hist. Soc., in Harrisburg. Much of it is from a collection of a genealogist who was researching the family for a woman who wanted to join the DAR. In the Pennsylvania Archives, 3rd Series, Vol. XXV" under Warrantees of Land, p.142, Godfried Festerer. In another archives I found a history of the "Pennsylvania Rifle Regiment, Col. Samuel Miles. Godfrey Fister, is listed as a private. I found a ships passenger list in a book "Pennsylvania
German Pioneers" by Ralph Beaver Strassburger, LL.D, Baltimore, Genealogical
Publishing Co., 1980. Gottfried Fisterer is listed as coming across on the
Brig "Morning Star" in 1772.
Here is some information I have on the Kepner family:
1. Bernhard Kepner
2. Benedict Kepner born abt. 1678 in Germany. Died Feb. 26, 1764, in
New Hanover twp., PA. Married Barbara Catherine ?
3. Benedict Kepner born 1714 in New Hanover twp., mar. Maria Salome Winter.
4. Mary Magdeline Kepner, married Godfrey Fiester.
5. Jacob Fiester, mar. Mary Robb
6. Benjamin Fiester, mar. Mary Sones/Sohns
7. Levi Feaster, mar. Sarah Bredbenner
8. James Feaster, mar. Mary Ellen Page
9. Mary Ellen Feaster = James MacNamara
10. Elizabeth MacNamara = Charles E.
Brady
11. Charles E. Brady Jr. = Dolores
May
12. Charles ( Chuck ) E. Brady
III =
Marilyn Vent
13.
