Hi Caroline,
I am Eva, Willie & John Wesley Sisk are my 2G-Grandparents, my grandfather told me back in the late 1970s that I looked exactly like his 1/2 sister, except that my eyes were blue like his. He stated that she was full-blooded Cherokee, at that time I always thought I would get to talk to him about it later since he was only visiting the area for a short time period. So being a teenager I thought I had all the time in the world to get more information from him. He died before I could ask him again about his half sister, I have no idea what her name was. So far I do not have a "Documented American Indian" just that the physical description listed by others indicate that there were several in the family, some say there is also Creek Indian as well. Would love to exchange information with you.

Dear Virginia,

hi, I´m Caroline from Germany (sorry, if my English is not
very good) - I started a little search on Ancestry about
one year ago, had a big break and today I thought about
starting again and I found your post from 2004.
You wrote, you have a Fife book - well, Willie Fife/Sisk
had a few children, one of them was Rosie - the mother of
my father Clyde Edward Wiggins. He left the States when he
was a boy and he had not much contact to his family anymore.
He died when I was 17 - now I´m 45 and I got so many
questions about his family, but most of his sisters and
brothers also died, there are two half-sisters, but they
where too small when he left, they can´t remember him.
Maybe you would like to get in touch with me....maybe you
could answer me a question - when we were kids, he told
us about himself beeing part Choctaw - I think he said,
his grandmother or his greatgrandmother has been a Chowtaw-
Indian. Do you know anything about this ??
Well, I would really love to get a mail from you - tell me
about you and your life.
By the way - I got 5 children (one of them a foster-son),
and my youngest one, the only daughter, is called
Linda Virginia - I just love this name...
Many greetings from Germany - Bavaria
Caroline

I'm newly researching my Fife ancestors in Claiborne County, Mississippi. Isaac Fife is mentioned in Spanish/British land grant info from c. 1790s, around Bayou Pierre (Chubby Branch). Any add'l info would be appreciated. Farris Andrew Fife married a Dewilda Inda/Dewilder/Dewildia Porter, who is buried at Sarepta Cemetery in Mississippi. I'd also like info on her, as I can't find anything before her. "Family lore" is that her family came to Mississippi from Kentucky when she was a baby. Thanks.

Anna M. Fife & John Gilmour

A couple of cousins and I are working on our Fife-Gilmour genealogy and are trying to find any information on Anna M. Fife born in Londonderry, Northern Ireland, in 1838 or 1840, who came to the U.S. in 1847/48. She married John Gilmour in 1865/66 in New York City. He was born in Londonderry too in 1842 or 1846 and came to the U.S. in 1861 or 1863. Anna and John had seven children: Emily Jane b. 1867, Wesley G. b. 1869, Sarah b. 1870, Alfred C. b. 1872, Benjamin Roberts b. 1873, Augusta b. 1878, and James Garfield b. 1880. We're especially interested in information on Anna's parents (E. Fife and Anna Lloyd) and John's parents (possibly Alexander Gilmour and Jane Glenn) but wouldn't mind having additional information on their descendants as well.
Tammy,

I have a Benjamin Fife b. about 1840 married to Rachel Fields (daughter of Rider Fields) and living in Creek Nation Concharty town after the Civil War. There is also a Stephen Fife married to a granddaughter of Rider Fields named Ellen Bruner in the same general era. Benjamin is shown on 1882 Concharty town census. Ellen is shown on this census(but not Stephen) remarried, but with a daughter Nancy Fife.

Either of these could create your Creek link, as most descendents of Rider Fields intermarried into Creek bloodlines even though he was actually Cherokee.

Please respond if you think there is a link.

SJM

SJM

I am from the Fife line and I've seen in my limited research the name spelled Fife and Fifi. Most are from the 2 Ward, St John the Baptist Parish. Some of the first names are:
Francois (1820)
Felicie (1825) wife if Francois
Matilde (1865)
Jean
Charles, Celestine (9 year old granddaughter)
Celeste (I believe her mother had the surname Pierre, and Father was Leopold or Leobob Fife)
Alfred
Ulger (1845)
