James, most of my information comes from both of the books I mentioned, "Sketches of the Figg Family" and "Figg Leaves". I have two brothers who married two sisters and their children married (lst cousins)so thank goodness there was a book to go by. Or I would have a tangled mess.... William Figg (1770-1848) m. Mary Taylor (1770-1840) (c. John Wright Figg)
and James Madison Figg, jr (1777-1843) m. Elizabeth Taylor (1778-1843) (c.Martha Figg)
children John Wright Figg (1798-1824)and Martha Figg (1804-1850) married - their child James W. Figg is my ancestor. James W. Figg (1830-1911) and Lucinda Hiter (1832-1918) married, their child William Henry Figg (1859-1946) married Elizabeth Dettmer (?)(this is my problem trying to locate) - their child Harry Franklin Figg (1889-1942) married Leuvisa Alice Elizabeth Smith - and finally this is my grandmother who just passed away last month at the age of 103.
The book states that there were 3 full brothers who came over to Shelby Co., Ky from Culpepper Co., Va in 1800. This book Figg Sketches is by Edward Figg and I've found easily in Ky. There is also mention of the Figgs earlier being in Berkeley Co., Va. There is also mention of a half-brother John, Jr (born in Ireland)
