Ciao!

I am trying to achieve information about my Great- Grandfather, Ettore Fillippinie before he came to the United States. He supposedly was from either Udine, or Beta Scalia, Italy. He came by ship to Ellis Island, NY. He was born in 1857. He died in 1912, and is buried in Campbell Co., TN at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetary. With what records of him that I do have, banking was his original profession, and then later went into the coal mining industry in Whitley Co., Williamsburg, KY. He later married a lady by the name of Virginia Rigney, with whom he had 8 children with. There names are as follows: Lee Angelo Fillippinie, Molia Fillippinie, Maria Fillippinie, Rosina Fillippinie, Adelaide Fillippinie, Julia Fillippinie, Caterine Fillippinie, & Eveline Fillippinie. A friend of mine put me in touch with an investigator in Italy, but came back with limited, but some helpful information. He told me that there is no town by the name of Beta Scalia, Italy there. Although since it may have been a small town, a bigger one grew around it, that maybe why there is now no record of it. Also he told me that the way our last name (Fillippinie) is spelled now, does not even exist there. The only thing I can figure is that, when he came to the United States either they purposely mispelled it to Americanize it. I have found different variations of it through my search's. COME ON FOLKS, THINK ABOUT IT, WE ARE ALL ANCESTRALLY LINKED TO EACH OTHER IN SOMEWAY.... JUST BY THE NAME FILLIPPINIE/FILIPPINI/etc.... ALONE. REALLY HOW COMMON IS THAT SURNAME, IT'S NOT LIKE SMITH, FEE, HOWARD, HENSLEY, OR SAYLOR IS IT??? If there is anyone out there that maybe able to help me or point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it. I'm hoping that I may have some cousins or other family members out there that is evidentally researching our family name as well. Thank you....

Sincerely,
Regina "Fillippinie" Mann
