Regina,

You and I may be researching the same family, and if so, you would be my cousin. My great grandmother was Mollie Filippini (I actually don't know if the spelling of her name is accurate), and I am wondering if she is the same as Molia that you listed. Mollie married Michele De Pascale in 1906 in Campbell County, TN. In the 1900 census, in Campbell County, TN, Ettore and Virginia and their children are listed (jpg of the census is attached). Some of the children's name match the ones that you listed, but others do not (could be accuracy or spelling problems in the records), and some of the children were probably not born by 1900.

Mollie and Michele had at least two children, Lena (who died a couple of years ago) and Virginia Antionette (or Antionette Virginia), who died in the 1940's. Virginia was my grandmother. The Italian naming custom of naming children after their grandparents makes me think that there is a very real chance that my grandmother was named after Ettore's wife.

I'd be very interested in hearing from you on the family history if indeed we are looking back at the same ancestors. My email is abuttolph@eoni.com.

Best Regards,
Adele Buttolph
Angelina/Anna/Jane Anna Filippini

Searching for the family of birth mother of 85 yr. old adoptee. The name on adoption papers is Jane Anna Filippine. Adoption was in Utah, baby born abt 29 July 1919. I found an "Anna Filipini" in Fresno, CA. in 1820, age 21, b. in NV.
The 1900 census has a family with a 2yr. old dtr., Angelina.
Angelina's b-day was Apr. 1898. 1920 census was taken in Jan. 1920 and asked for age at last b-day - 21 in Apr. 1919, ie born in 1898. The family in NV were Angelo, wife Josephine and sons Martin, Edward, Daniel, Joseph and an unnamed baby boy. He was Henry Angelo. They were missed in the 1910 census altho they still lived in NV. All the boys registered for the draft living in Elko or Battle Mtn. They named Angelo as nearest relative, so he was still alive and in Elko in 1918. Nothing found in 1920 census for any of them, but they were all ranchers, and if you can imagine living on a ranch in the Elko, NV area 100 yrs ago, you can understand why the poor underpaid census taker never located their ranch or caught them home! My friend is so estatic that I'm getting so close, but I'd love to find a living descendant of this family to put her in touch with.
Bev. Portlock
Fillippinie/Filippini/etc.....

Ciao!

I am trying to achieve information about my Great- Grandfather, Ettore Fillippinie before he came to the United States. He supposedly was from either Udine, or Beta Scalia, Italy. He came by ship to Ellis Island, NY. He was born in 1857. He died in 1912, and is buried in Campbell Co., TN at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetary. With what records of him that I do have, banking was his original profession, and then later went into the coal mining industry in Whitley Co., Williamsburg, KY. He later married a lady by the name of Virginia Rigney, with whom he had 8 children with. There names are as follows: Lee Angelo Fillippinie, Molia Fillippinie, Maria Fillippinie, Rosina Fillippinie, Adelaide Fillippinie, Julia Fillippinie, Caterine Fillippinie, & Eveline Fillippinie. A friend of mine put me in touch with an investigator in Italy, but came back with limited, but some helpful information. He told me that there is no town by the name of Beta Scalia, Italy there. Although since it may have been a small town, a bigger one grew around it, that maybe why there is now no record of it. Also he told me that the way our last name (Fillippinie) is spelled now, does not even exist there. The only thing I can figure is that, when he came to the United States either they purposely mispelled it to Americanize it. I have found different variations of it through my search's. COME ON FOLKS, THINK ABOUT IT, WE ARE ALL ANCESTRALLY LINKED TO EACH OTHER IN SOMEWAY.... JUST BY THE NAME FILLIPPINIE/FILIPPINI/etc.... ALONE. REALLY HOW COMMON IS THAT SURNAME, IT'S NOT LIKE SMITH, FEE, HOWARD, HENSLEY, OR SAYLOR IS IT??? If there is anyone out there that maybe able to help me or point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it. I'm hoping that I may have some cousins or other family members out there that is evidentally researching our family name as well. Thank you....

Sincerely,
Regina "Fillippinie" Mann
Ciao! Flavia
My name is Regina Fillippinie. I have been trying to find some connections to the Filippini side of my family for about 7 years. I am trying to locate other members of my great-grandfathers family, and hopefully find out as much as I can about him. He was fron Udine, Italy, born 1857. I have very limited information on him. I had spoken with an investigator in Italy, and he told me that the way our last name is spelled does not exist in any region of Italy, which means that over the years it was changed for some reason. If you would have any information at all, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank You,
Regina (Fillippinie) Mann

HELLO MICHAEL!
THANKS FOR THE INFORMATION THAT YOU LEFT ME ON THE MESSAGE BOARD. THERE IS A LADY THAT I'M STAYING IN TOUCH WITH BY THE NAME OF LINDA FILLIPPINI MOCK, AND SHE IS DOING RESEARCH FOR THE FILLIPPINI FAMILY AS WELL. I'M HOPING THAT THE CATHOLIC BAPTISMAL RECORDS THAT SHE IS TRANSLATING FROM LATIN WILL HOLD THE KEY TO US ALL. FILLIPPINI IS A VERY UNUSUAL ITALIAN NAME AND IF I WAS A BETTING PERSON, I WOULD GAMBLE THAT ALL OF US ARE RELATED TO ONE ANOTHER IN SOME WAY. I WAS REFERRED TO A INVESTIGATOR BY A FRIEND IN ITALY THAT DOES THIS KIND OF RESEARCH FOR PEOPLE AND HE TOLD ME THAT THE SPELLING OF MY NAME THE WAY THAT IT IS NOW FILLIPPINIE DOES'NT EXIST IN ITALY , THAT IT WAS PROBABLY CHANGED WHEN MY GREAT-GRANFATHER CAME OVER HERE. I WAS TOLD THAT HE EITHER CAME FROM UDINE OR BETTA SCALIA ITALY BUT THE INVESTIGATOR SAID THAT BETTA SCALIA DOES'NT EXIST THEIR, UNLESS IT WAS A SMALL OLD TOWN AND THE NAME WAS CHANGED LATER ON.

STAY IN TOUCH,
REGINA FILLIPPINIE

Hello Regina,

Your greatgrandfather probably came from Bologna Italy. There is still a whole Fillippini Clan there... Interestingly enough St. Lucy Fillipini is in there somewhere....

There are some Fillippini's in South America, and others in North America... mostly in the North East.... my greatgrandfather was Luigi who came to the US with his brother.... he worked the railroads for a while... then a rope factory... finally settling in Plymouth, Mass...

Hello!
My name is Regina Fillippinie, and I am the great-granddaughter of Ettore Fillippini. He was an immigrant and eventually migrated here to the state of Kentucky. He was born in 1857 and died in 1912, he is buried in Campbell County Tennessee at St Boniface Catholic Cemetary. I have no clue as to whom his parents were, or exactly what part of Italy that he came from. If there is anyone out there that could give any information on my family member would appreciate it. He was living in Whitley County, Ky a place called Gatliff. He was a coal mining operator for a while and during the depression he went anti-up and lost everything. His original occupation was a bank president, after the above happened he did'nt have enough in payroll to take care of what was owed to his men. He left and went to New York, got a job at a bank till he had enough money, and came back and payed them them what was owed to them. please if there is anyone out there that could donate some information or point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.

Ettore Filippini "AKA" Ettore Fillippini

I am the Great-Grandaughter of Ettore Fillippini. I am desperatly seeking any and all information that I can obtain about my Great-Grandfather. Family member's have told me that he came to America from Italy. It is believed that the port of origin was Ellis Island in New York when he came over, I have still know evidence to substantiate this. Ettore was born 1857 in Italy, and died in Campbell County, Tennessee. He is buried in the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetary in the same county. He married my Great-Grandmother Virginia Rigney on Dec.9, 1889. I have very little information about him or his ancestor's in Italy. Even though he was from Italy the name fillippini's origin is Spanish, and I wonder if maybe my research should be pointing in another direction. I would greatly appreciate any info that you could donate and send my way, maybe even accumulate some family as I go along
