They married sisters, my aunts, Ellen and May kitterman. Warren was married to Ellen. They are buried at Parkview Cemetery in French Camp, Ca. Their sons Leonard and Jack are both dead. May and Roy's son, Delmer Filley died in Redwood City as did May. Roy is buried at Park view also.
You may write to Lila44@comcast.net. She is the niece of Roy and Warren.

Re: Filley's in Missouri

This may be old information to you now. I just found these sites.
Emma Filley Sell was the eldest daughter of George and Mary Wipard Filley of Mirabile Missouri. (US Census 1880)

There were three daughters: Emma (Sell), Nora (Holbrook), Millie (Burkhart) and four sons: Henry Clay, Albert, Arthur, and Harrison, according to census info. There were two other children, Martha and Samuel, born to George and a first wife.

It was on the farm in Pleasant Grove Township,(Caldwell County) belonging to Noah and Emma Sell that Emma's younger brother, Albert, killed his wife, Fannie Riley Filley, his six year old daughter, Dollie Filley, and his brother, Henry Clay Filley on December 21, 1907. Clay's wife, Elsie, escaped with their 2 year old daughter, Goldie, to a neighbor's for help. Albert was put on trial in June/July 1908 and was hung inside the Kingston MO jail in Sept.1908. His was the only legal hanging in Caldwell County MO. Hundreds came to view or be present.

It seemed Emma and Noah were already in CA, but her sister, Nora, and her brother, Oliver, moved their own families out there to escape this tragic episode. Oliver moved back to the area some years later.

Even their mother, Mary Filley's obituary contained a short sentence naming her the mother of Albert Filley the murderer.

I hope this has been helpful.

Sharon Kavanaugh

Dale, sorry, I forgot about Uncle Dick and Aunt Myra... I've never been able to keep it straight in my mind whether Uncle Dick is older or younger than my own father.
I'm so glad to know you, even if it is thru a message board.
I do know that my father's Aunt DeDe (Cordelia) was a large part of his childhood, and he remembers her with a great deal of love. As a matter of fact, I was named after her, because of this. (Glynis Cordelia).
My father and my mother are heading to Kansas City this month, and they would be delighted to see you if you're still in the general area.
I would LOVE to find out more about the Thomsons, and all the other families that are a part of the Gibeson gene pool. Uncle James' grand-daughter, Melody, is also interested, in between her studies at college in St Louis.
I'd love to talk to you further, so if you could E-Mail me at 'Glynbru@AOL.com' we could exchange phone numbers, because I'd love to talk to you!
Glynis

It is your Uncle Richard's 50th in June and that is the Gibeson I was refering. My father is Wilfred (Bud) Crome. You can tell your dad if doesn't know that he died last November. Anyway our great grandparents were Charles Hiram and Margaret (Thomson) Filley. I have found some information on the Thomsons and extensive geneology of Charles' mother Cordelia (Pomeroy) Filley. Your grandmother Grace was my grandmother Cordelia's younger sister. Your father and his brother's lived with/near my grandmother after Grace and Glen (Sr.) died. Any way enough. When I have our common geneology organized better I will send it to you.

He had several children...Harry Floyd Filley, Clarence Eugene Filley, Homer Albert Filley, Florence Helen Filley, Willard Francis (in some geneology charts listed as Francis Willard) Filley, Lawrence Edgar Filley, and Bonnie May Filley. Eugene Filley was married to Maud Melissa Chapel. I have been able to trace back Maud Chapel's parents and before, but nothing before Gene Filley. I believe that Gene may have been born in Nebraska or possibly Montana, but am not positive.
This Henry Filley might be the father of my mother-in-law. When I knew her she had no idea where any of her family was. Do you have anymore information on this. The only thing is that my mother-in-law said her mother died in child birth when she was about 8. Could be Henry married again. I have not been able to find out anything about this family.
I sure would appreciate any informations you have.or if you know anyone who does.
Thanks

Dear Lynn:
While I have found Polly Filley listed in the various genealogical websites and her marriage, her parents are not listed anywhere. The first Filley that I found in the Connecticut census in Granby, where Polly was born, is Moses Filley in the 1810 census. I suggest that you search the church records in Granby, Connecticut, available at the Connecticut State Library in Hartford. Its website is www.cslib.org.
If you find her, do let us know -- Thanks -- Sharon Steinberg, Filley House Historian, Bloomfield, CT

I'm trying to learn out how Emma FILLEY fits into the MO FILLEY's. She was born in MO and married to Noah Henry SELL/SELLS (1865 - 1956) who was from Cameron, MO. Emma & Noah lived in for MO for a while then moved the family to a ranch in San Dimas, CA. Emma was buried in Pomona, CA cemetery on Oct. 12, 1935.

Their children included: Goldie (1888-1917 gggrandmother of my children), Mabel, Lettie, Hazel, (Lloyd?) Raymond, and I.D. (died in car accident about 15 years old in 1921-perhaps Israel D??), and Gladys.

Goldie married to Harry MIDDAUGH who was also from Cameron, MO. They also moved to CA with Goldie's family.

I'd appreciate any insight you would be willing to share, especially regarding Emma's connection.

Ammi Filley was the primary patriarch who moved to Jackson area of MI from CT. He and some of his sons served in the Civil War. However, I have yet to connect him to your immediate Filley ancestors. Eulene and Audrey were among 4 children, the others being Victor R. and Keith Elmer. Their parents was Fayette Bromley Filley and Rose L. Paul. Fayette's parents were Horace A. Filley and Emma Jane Bromley; his brother was Elmer Grandison Filley. My information stops with Horace A. Filley who died about 1900 in MI. Send me your e-mail address to me at jphilley@mis.net and I'll send you a chart.

Hi -- I just came across your message -- three years later -- and wonder if you are still searching for the origins of the Filley family. William Filley was the first -- he came to Windsor in or about 1660, and the family has been branching ever since, with parts in Virginia, Massachusetts, California, Texas, Colorado and Connecticut. Let me know if you need any more information and I'll try to connect it to Connecticut Filleys.

Thank you so much for the information on the Filleys. This gives me at least 3 brothers of my mother-in-law. I know she spelled her maiden name as Musser but I have found the marriage record of her parents and it was spelled Misser. I can't seem to find out much about the Musser/Mussses/Misser. Neither can I find a list of her siblings. I appreciate you answering me since you are not related. It looks like most of the Filleys in Calif. are deceased. According to her there were a number of children. She said her Mother died in childbirth and the baby slept between two of them and they smothered it. I think she said she was around 8. She passed away in 1967.

Although I'm not a relation, it would seen that Roy and Warren were brothers, as they both have the same mother's maiden name in California Death Records (one spelled as Musser, the other as Musses).
Warren was born in Missouri 1/1/1892 and died in San Joaquin County California 8/27/1942. According to 1930 Census Records and California Death Records, he was married to Ellen, and had threee children: Leonard B Filley, born 9/13/1913 in Illinois and died 11/6/1976 in San Joaquinin County; Jack Filley, born 5/12/1915 in Kansas and died 10/2/1972 in San Joaquin County; and Glenn Filley, born in California 9/14/1919 and died in San Joaquin County 2/9/1940.
Roy Filley is listed in the 1930 census living alone as a laborer. The 1920 he is showing as being married, but the records are not that clear. I think it shows his wire as "Mary", who died 9/29/1936 in San Joaquin County. It shows three sons, Joseph, "Georgia" and Delmer. The sons are shown with the last name of Filley, and not "Hall" as shown in the obituary. Delmar Filley was born 1/9/1916 in Kansas and died 7/2/1987 in San Mateo County.
George Filley, the other brother shon in the obituary, was born in Missouri 9/17/1871 and died 5/4/1959 in Los Angeles County.

If you look under trhe "Brack" message board, somebody else named Julie seems to be researching the same people that you are (Filley and Musser). She has a message about Nancy Musser (daughter of McCook Musser and Susana Sturgis).
According to 1880 census, McCook Musser resided in the same city as Nancy Filley. McCook Musser was born 2/29/1832 in Ohio.
