Classification: Cemetery
Surnames: FILLMORE JACKSON
I photographed the headstones and grave markers I came across in a Washington County, Texas cemetery (located between Brenham, TX and Burton, TX). Several of these headstones and markers were marking the graves of people with the FILLMORE and JACKSON surnames. (Photos of these headstones and burial markers are attached here and posted on http://www.findagrave.com)
Among the headstones and grave markers were those of :
ZELMA MAE (JACKSON) FILLMORE
Birth: Sep. 7, 1919
Death: Aug. 26, 1991
LOVING WIFE, MOTHER, GRANDMOTHER
Near her grave was that of
LEROY FILLMORE, JR
Birth: Oct 1, 1939
Death: Jan 3, 2000
A LOVING SON, BROTHER, UNCLE
On a headstone shared by Glen JACKSON and Bessie JACKSON.
Bessie JACKSON
Birth: Oct. 4, 1890
Death: Jan. 2, 1955
Glen JACKSON
Birth: May. 6, 1888
Death: Mar. 25, 1953
IN LOVING MEMORY
I do not know the name of this cemetery (or if it has a name) so I have it as "Cemetery on Old Mill Creek Rd a mile from HWY 290 "
This cemetery is located on Old Mill Creek Road between Brenham, TX and Burton, TX. To get to this cemetery from Burton, Texas, drive about 1 to 1.5 miles east on Hwy 290 Old Mill Creek Road. Turn right on Old Mill Creek Road and drive about 1.2 - 1.4 miles. Look toward the right. The burial site is about 100 feet from the road. There are no signs to indicate that this is a cemetery. It is easily accessable.
Although I took the GPS coordinates (N 30 10.003 / W 096 34.206), when I used them on Mapquest the "star" showed up about 25 miles from the cemetery. I hope to double check the coordinates when I next visit that area in the future.
ABOUT THE CEMETERY:
There are no signs indicating that this is a cemetery. I found it by accident and photographed all of the graves that have headstones or markers [these and the other surnames are posted on http://www.findagrave.com], however it looks very much like several graves no longer have headstones or markers. I could be wrong, but it looks like the cemetery may have been affected by floods and some of the headstones and markers may have washed away.
There is also another Cemetery on the left when you first turn onto Old Mill Creek Road. I have not yet visited that cemetery.
