I found an article on another website about the sinking of the Steam Barge R. G. Peters, in Lake Michigan, December 1882.

Among the crew that was lost was a second engineer by the name of FINAN. The article states that he resided in Manistee, but formerly lived at Oak Creek, WIS.

Unfortunately, they do not give the mans 1st name and additional searches have turned up nothing.
I am positive this man was an ancestor of my husband's. Does anyone know who this FINAN was?
