Brilliant yes that's the one. I also have Amy born after Minnie in 1885 but that could be wrong.
Sorry I should not have said Birth Certificates, I think I meant Parish records. When I searched the IGI it showed no father for any child. It is some years since I looked at the data.I do not know whether this was Birth records or Census. I 'm delighted to hear that they were all ligitimate.
I am a Kennedy and family folklore said that one of the Kennedys married a Finch. I trawled the census for any Kennedy living in a Finch household and found them purely by chance because the mother-in-law was staying there.
Mary Ann's mother was Mary Kennedy and her father, as you say, was Thomas Kennedy The mother lived to 92, the father died aged 59 or so. Thomas Kennedy married Mary Ann MERRICK 12.08.1836. They had 3 children Anne, Edward Thomas, and Mary Ann (Finch)
I would be grateful for anything to do with that line. I only have years of birth for most of the Finch family. Let me know what else I can give you. Hear from you soon

Hello there

Thanks for your message

Yes, i think we are talking about the same Finch line.

I must admit that i currently know relatively little on the Kennedy line. However, i do know that Mary Ann Kennedy's father was called Thomas Kennedy and he was a Coach Smith.

I do know that Henry Finch and Mary Ann Kennedy were married on July 31st 1859.

I am intrigued that you say there is no father's name mentioned on any of the birth certificates! Just to clarify, do you mean Henry and Mary Ann's children? Do you have any birth certificates for the children then?
I have Henry and Mary's children listed as Henry, Florence, William, Philip, Charles and Minnie. Does this tally with your own data? If so, which of these children do you say have not got their father's name on?
I know that this is not the case for their eldest son Henry, who was my Great Grandfather. I have his birth certificate and his father is definately listed as Henry FInch.

May i ask how you are connected to the Finch line?

Kind Regards

Christopher

Christopher
Great to hear from you. As you see I am still here and interested in anything I can get my hands on.
Is this the Finch family of Bethnal Green, London?
I found the census with the many Finch children and even Mary Ann's mother, Mary Kennedy at one time. I noticed that there was never a father mentionned on the birth certificates for any of the children. I did not find Henry on the census either.
I would love to have the basic tree for Henry and Mary Ann's family.
I would of course be delighted to have anything you might know of Mary Ann's line upwards. Hopefully I can give you a little information in exchange. Hear from you soon.

Wilma was related to the Davis family but her last name was CLARK. Her father was William Clark who lived to be 97 years old. Her mother died when she was 20 years old. She had 6 sisters. Berdene, Hilda, Dolores, Maxine and twins Dorothy and Donna. I beleve there is a book in the Branch County Libery, in Coldrwater, Michigan that takes her roots back to when that area was first settled. Her roots go back to a small community in Barch County called Kinderhook.

Dear Chris

Hello There

I was just checking the message boards and i see that you were looking for information on Finch and Kennedy?

Im not sure if you still require any info considering this is an old post and im not even sure if this message will even get through - im new to this site because i usually use Genes Reunited (through which we may have already corresponded?!) but basically.....

Henry Finch and Mary Ann Kennedy were my Great Great Grandparents. Henry died aged 40 of tuberculosis in 1880 and left behind his widow and sveral children.

As i say, im not sure if this is even applicable anymore, but if you require any more info, then please feel free to ask!

Kind Regards

Christopher

Claire,

You ARE good.

I am Edward Peter Finch b 1955, great grandson of Jonadab Finch, who died in 1957. I don't recall him but his wife lived until 1969 and we were frequent visitors to the house.

My grandfather Edward Albert Christian Finch fought alongside his brother William at the Somme. He survived until 1993 aged 96.

My father was Edward Albert Finch (1919-2004).

I live within walking distance of All Souls if you would like some photographs.

My e-mail tedfinch@fsmail.net.

Incidentally I think that a brother of Edward Clayton Finch moved to Old Malden, Surrey at or around 1839 and lived at Forge Cottages Church Rd (KT4 7RB). This was a the end of the street where I was born and raised. I have no idea whether there were still Finches living there in the 1950s (they were very old thatched cottages demolished in 1961 for redevelopment). My father can't of been aware of it.

I assume that the Finches were sheep farmers.

Yes, I have much that I can tell you, the family were all great talkers and would enjoy passing on what I know.

Regards

Ted Finch

I would appreciate any information on my grandfather Joseph Finch, who went to Santa Domingo with his brother James Finch, some time in the 1920's. Neither of them returned to St. Kitts. My father John James Finch born 27/10/1923, did not remember much about his father. My father's mother was Margaret Williams of Cayon St. Kitts married a man called Nelson in Burroughs Village St. Kitts. Should anyone have even a tenuious link to the above, please contact me via email: kfinch@blueyonder.co.uk

Keptreene

from The Willard (New Mexico) Record, 16 Nov. 1910:
"Appendix Removed on Ship.
First Successful Operation of the Kind to be Performed on the Ocean.
San Francisco -- The first successful operation for appendicitis performed on the Pacific Ocean was revealed here on the arrival of the United States Transport Sheridan from Manilla via Honolulu. Major M. A. Dean of the United States Medical Corps performed the operation on Milton Finch, a private soldier.
When the Sheridan was 3 days out from this port, Finch was suddenly stricken with appendicitis.
Major Dean an Army surgeon returning from the Philipines on the Sheridan, was called in and asked to operate on Finch, and while the Sheridan plowed through the waves, he removed the appendix. Finch recovered rapidly in the Army hospital at the Presidio when the Sheridan arrived here."

Hi Don:

I live in Dallas and am in the Sons of the Republic of Texas (similar to the SAR, only Texas related) This is on my mother's side. My Finches are on my Dad's side. Anyway, I am involved in a lot of early Texas history and found it interesting that you said your people went to GA in 1836 from Texas. If your people were in Texas in 1836 you would be likely be eligible for the Sons of the Republic of Texas. Do you think they were in the Texas Revolution? Maybe that is why they went to GA?

I am also the administrator of the Finch DNA Project. I descend from Robert Green Finch born 1849 Spartanburg SC. It would be great if we could get some of you to test with us and see if/how we might relate.

I can be reached at mic@micbarnette.com and our Finch DNA Project website is at micbarnette.com click on the DNA Project link.

MIC
Hi Bill:

I descend from George William Finch who married Nancy Smith in 1843 possibly in Spartanburg SC through their son Robert Green Finch born Spartanburg SC 1849.

So far I have not made a connection genealogically with the other Finch Families of Spartanburg. However, I am the administrator of the Finch DNA Project and have sponsored my Finch cousin in the project. We match the Spartanburg Finches as well as another man whose ancestry went from Southside VA to KY.

I can be reached at mic@micbarnette.com our DNA Project website is at micbarnette.com click on the Finch DNA Project.

MIC

Re: Finch Family of Wake Co. NC

I descend from George William Finch who married Nancy Smith in 1843. Not really sure where but their son Robert Green was born 1849 in Spartanburg SC. This is my line.

I am the adminstrator of the Finch DNA Project and have sponsored my grandmother's nephew in the project. We match others descended from known Spartanburg families. We also match a descendant of a man whose ancestor was in Southside Virginia and later went to KY. So I know the Finches in Spartanburg, including my line were from Virginia. I suspect my line is related in VA to the others in Spartanburg. Iam therefore looking at other Finch families wo may have a stray that wondered down to Spartanburg to be with other relatives.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. If you are a Finch or have a living Finch relative it would be good if you had them join our project. We have about 20 participants, several of whom have the Spartanburg and VA connection.

I may be contacted at mic@micbarnette.com or visit our project website at micbarnette.com

MIC
I descend from George William Finch who married 1843 to Nancy Smith. I know them as being in Spartanburg, SC. I am doing DNA and am matching others tracing their ancestry from Spartanburg back to Southside Virginia where Mecklenburg VA is located. Our Spartanburg people also match another Finch descendant who went to KY from Southside Virginia.

George William and Nancy Smith Finch had a son Robert Green Finch born Spartanburg 1849 who was my next in line ancestor. Any help you may be able to give would be appreciated.
Thanks,

MIC
mic@micbarnette.com
Hi Dr Brownlee:

I have a Marvin in my family. I am note sure if this is him or not. I will work on it and see. He would be a son of one of my grandmother's siblings, if related.

Thanks for posting the information.

Mic
mic@micbarnette.com
Finch DNA Project

Hi Finch cousins:

I am the administrator of the Finch DNA Project. If you are a male born with the Finch surname you can test. If you are in anyway related to the Finches you can sponsor a male (father, brother, cousin) Finch relative of your line.

I am a male but not born a Finch. I sponsored a Finch nephew of my grandmother. It has helped immensely in my research. It has proven my research was on the right track.
Right now we have about 20 participants in the project.

I can be reached at mic@micbarnette.com if you have questions or you can visit our project website at micbarnette.com then click on the Finch tab.

MIC
