Classification: Query
I am the GG Grandson of Henry Hawes Fincher. He was a resident of Monroe, Union, North Carolina, where he died in 1869.
A few years ago, when I started family research, there was a brick wall at Henry. I found an obituary stating that Henry's parents were William and Cynthia Fincher. Beyond that, I have found very little on the parents. (I have not traveled to Union County, NC to continue my research.) I was also not a paying member of ancestry.com at that time - I am now.
Now, after a several year break from research, I find a number of public member trees that show Henry's parents as William and Elizabeth Fincher. I have yet to find one of these trees that has a source cited for assigning Henry to this particular William.
Does anyone know if there are sources to prove this relationship? Was the relationship proven through DNA or some other means?
Please note that I am not trying to question anyone's research, but sources are very important to me.
Thanks,
Don
