Hi,
I am also researching my family tree on my mother's side. Her maiden name is Lee. Her great grandfather, Thomas Lee, married an Ann Fines around 1860 and her family were from Southwell as was Thomas'. As yet I've not found a lot out about Ann except she had a brother Charles and lived next door to some more Fines although I don't know what relation they were to her. Don't think they were her parents as they also had a daughter called Ann, but could have been an Aunt/Uncle. If I find anything else out, I will let you know.

I am definitely interested. My mother was Helen Fines (1920 -1978). Her family originated in Ireland (so they say). Richard Fines (married Alice Johnson), arrived in the US around 1850. He settled in Greenwood, Illinois. His son, William, established the city of Morrisonville, IL. William married Alice Burns. They had several children - one was my grandfather Edward Leo Fines. Edward married Lessie Harlow. They moved to Kansas City, MO around 1917.

John Charles Fines and Jennie Kavanaugh are my great grandparents. I have a cousin named Ronald Joseph Fines that says he has a copy of John Charles birth record in Tara Hill, Meath, Ireland. Does that go with your Rush people?

Barbara Fines Price

Hi,
I am researching my grandmother and her family. She was Annie Fines, her father William and her mother (Ha)nora nee Halpin. William was originally from Keady in Co Armagh. He worked with the Railway in Dublin and may have been sent south for work reasons. He finally became a stationmaster in Dublin. There were 3 more children , John (Jack), James, William(who died young) and Margaret. William re-married and had a second family with at least 2 sons, Phillip and I think Michael. |Does any ofthis sound familiar?

DANIELS - Janet Mathilda (Fines). It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Janet Daniels, aged 91, on February 25, 2005. Janet was born February 25, 1914 at home in Stranraer, Saskatchewan, to John and Myrtle Fines. Janet was predeceased by her husband, George and is survived by two sisters, Mary Olson, and Lois Swan; brother, Elmer Fines; son, Bob Daniels; and daughter, Myrtle Russell. She is fondly remembered by her six grandchildren: Darlene Proulx, Brent Daniels, Marilyn Dienstmann, Doug Russell, Brenda Hallworth, and Jim Russell and her nine greatgrandchildren who were her pride and joy. Janet married George Daniels in 1936 and they raised two children on the family farm near Plenty. Janet's hobbies were gardening and baking. Granny's fresh buns and raspberry jam were our favourite! George and Janet were the happiest farming the `Hills of Home'. After George's passing, Janet continued to divide her time between the farm and the city until her late 80's. Her family would like to thank the doctors and staff who cared for her at the Parkridge Centre in Saskatoon. As Janet requested, there will be no service

According to Jerry, William was born in 1808 and married Sarah in 1848.

If you are able to establish that William and Patience actually were siblings, I have a great deal of information on their family which I'm happy to share.

Julian: Am still looking for info on my Patrick and Wiliam Fyans.. I found records on a William Fyans, born abt 1830 in Rush, Dublin, Ireland, and christened Jun 21, 1830, RC Church, Rush, Dublin, Ireland, and also a Patrick Fyans, born abt 1828 Rush, Dublin, Ireland, christened Jan 8, 1828 RC Chuc=rch, Rush, Dublin, Ireland. You may recall that William is my Ggrandfather, and I have the medal of a Patrick Fyans, killed in the battle of Moodkee in 1845. You found records that Patrick enlisted in Dublin in 1840. Possibly he was the brother of my ggrandfather, William. I noticed that you are in communication with some of the Fyans families from Rush, Dublin. Do you know of any family that might have had a William and Patrick in it? Also, do you know where Rush is in Dublin? Hope you are well. Take care, Mary Ann at Blarney3@aol.com

Dear Sue,
I am actually looking for a Charles Finnis/Finniss and Fines could be a possibility. My Charles was born in England, I think around the Kent area, but I do not know the place or his parent's names. Like looking for a needle in the haystack. He went to Canada where he married and spent his life and is buried. I just don't know anything about his birth, etc. Still looking! He was born in 1805 per census records in Canada. That's about all I know.l

It certainly is exciting to find another cousin! I received my info from one of my cousins, Connie Himmelberger Tibbitts who got it from another one of my cousins, Gordon Fines. His wife is very much into the Fines family tree. I emailed Geoff a few years ago when I first got my computer. Sounds like it's possible that he may be one of our relatives as well. I had heard that the spelling of our name has been changed at least once...Fiennes, Foynes, Fines. I do know that my relatives came from Ireland, and there is a small village named after our family (spelled Foynes), as well as a small airport. Would love to get over there and see it one day. Take care.
Debbie Fines Fairow

Hi Tony.....
I'd be very interested in the information you supplied Eilene on William Fines. My gg-grandmother, Mary LOOMIS-ELLIS-McKEE, married him as her third husband. He, Sarah, and Mary are buried in the Shelton Cemetery, Shelton, Buffalo Co., NE. I know he had a son Charles who left Illinois with him and settled in Nebraska. Did they also have a daughter named Abigail?

When William and Sarah left Illinois they had with them two small children, Julia and James. Family history states these were "Spicer" children. William is listed next door to Sanford Spicer in the 1860 Pike Co., IL census. Julia is my g-grandmother. She married Thomas ELLIS, the oldest son of Mary LOOMIS-ELLIS-McKEE.

Kaylynn
audriana@mindspring.com

Mark.....
Would you happen to have any information on Patience's brother, William? I know he settled in Hall County, Nebraska, where his first wife, Sarah, died. When he and Sarah left Illinois, they had with them two small children, Julia and James. In the 1880 census the two children are listed as step-children, but they were, according to family history, adopted by Sarah and William and are listed as "FINES" in the census. When Julia married in 1885 she is listed as Julia "SPICER." Julia is my great-grandmother and I'm trying, (without much luck), to locate her family. William and Sarah did live close by a Sanford SPICER in the Illinois 1870 census, and I'm inclined to believe Julia and James were from that family. If you could shed any light on this I'd really appreciate it.

Take care,
Kaylynn

P.S. I visit William's grave often in the Shelton Cemetery, Buffalo County, Nebraska. His second wife, Mary Loomis-Ellis-McKee, is my gg-grandmother.

Hi!
I read your message on the board and am very curious to see if any of my ancesters match up. There is a family tradition that we came to England with William the Con. in 1066 then hung around there for a while. Then a branch emigrated to Canada in the 1800's. I believe my great grandfather was part of this group but I can't get any information. His name is John Charles Fines(spelling could be changed) He married Jennie Kavanaugh. He was born in 1830 in Ireland according to a U.S. census and Jennie was born in 1854 also in Ireland. If you have any information on the Fines family that you think might fit I would love to see it.

Thanks,
Barb Fines Price
