The Sippel's that I am researching were from Ingsterod,Hesse,Germany. They settled in German Hill, Tionesta Pa. and the name was changed to Sibble we think by record keepers in that area. Not sure where Somerset is but it has been my experience that families from Europe tended to stay in the same area when they settled here in the USA.

Finzel family of Pike County, AL 1860

I have a William O'Neal b. ca 1818 who was on the Pike County, AL 1860 census with wife Mary, lots of children and a Temperance Finzel age 72 relationship not known. Several houses away there was an Ephraim Finzel age 48 living with wife Mary and lots of children, including a girl named Temperance and one named Lempy . The William O'Neals had a daughter named Lempy. Could it be that Ephraim and Mary O'Neal were brother and sister? Need information about the family including who was William O'Neal. Fallonfox@aol.com

Trying to find more info. My ancestors, Eva Barbara Finzel was born in Germany in 1826 and married to George Michael Baum, b. 1824, Germany. They immigrated before 1858 and lived near Monroe, Michigan. Their children, I'm aware of, were Eva Margaret (1851), Elizabeth (1855), Michael (1858), Mary (1860), John George (1863), and Barbara (1869). Any info about this family or it's ancestors would be appreciated.

Johann (John) George Finzel family

Although the Finzel family isn't in my genealogy database, my cousin in Germany advises a Finzel family left her village in 1853, heading to somewhere in the U.S. I did find in "Germans to America", the family which I think she refers to, as they appeared to be traveling with distant relatives of mine. The Finzel family mentioned, arrived in the U.S. on June 1, 1853. They were:
Joh. G. Finzel, age 37, mason
Anna Finzel, 33, wife
Margaretha Finzel, age 9
Joh. Finzel, age 4
Anna Finzel, age 2
I'm not sure where in the U.S. this family settled although my relatives ended up in MI. Do the above names sound familiar to anyone?

Margaret....the store I work for is closing so I have been working lots and lots of hours. No chance to do any research for quite some time. The Zinks beginning with Jacob are buried in Forest Cemetery in Toledo, Ohio....but I am thinking John & Mary Zink are buried in Michigan. I should be done working the first of June, then I can devote my time to finding records and graves....if I run across anything I will let you know. In the meantime...refresh my knowledge of your e-mail address as I will send you some photos of the Zinks. Mary

Finzel

Jacob Zink b. in N.Y. state on 1/1/1846 m. 6/6/1872 to Margaret Finzel born 12/25/1850 d. 11/5/1915 This spelling is according to my grandmother Regina Zink whose mother was Margatet Finzel. The 56th Annual Finzel Reunion was held on Sunday, Sept. 19, 1976 atHoly Ghost Church school hall, 3589 Heiss Road, Monroe MI. I know that Jacob Zink is buried in Forest Lawn Cemetary, Toledo, OHIO but I'm not sure about Margaret Finzel. Next week I hope to go during the office hours and look this up. They got married in Maybee, MI and her father was John Finzel, her mother was Marie Hagerdorn. Does this help?
