Did you try the ships manifests from Ancestry and Ellis Island? If you know the name of the person she married and they came over together, the info on the manifest sometimes can lead to a clue about their village of origin. My family always said that they came from Rzeszów because the village nearby was very small. If it turned out that she or they were from the same village near Rzeszów, then there would be a good chance that they were related.

I believe she was born in Rzeszów in about 1875. I know nothing of her family, only the family she married into along with her children.

I just read the message that you placed on the board that I posted about the Firlej family. Sorry to say that I do not know anything about a Sophie Firlej. All I know is that my Grandmother was Josephine Firlej who was born in 1885 in Rogoznica to a Tomasz Firlej. I have not been able to find out much more about my Firlej side of the family, except that the name in Poland back then was not as uncommon as I first thought. Do you know where Zofia was from? My family comes from Galicia. The Rogoznica we come from is close to Rzeszow in the southeast. Wish I could be of more help.
T.Pyrcz
I found during my research that there are actually 3 towns called Rogznica in Poland. They are all in different districts. The one that my family comes from is in the Podkarpackie district. It is in the southern part of the country, in Galicia. I am not too sure just how close it is to the Czech border. It is quite near the major city of Rszesow and is bordered by a village called Rudna Mala. I found through immigration records that a number of Firlejs emmigrated from that village to Connecticut in the early 1900s. Good luck on your trip. I will be looking forward to hearing what you might find out.
