Hi,

I am looking for Tim Firman who used to live in Manchester, NH in the mid 1990's. We were friends and lost touch when I moved to Western MA about 98. Back then I was known as David or Dovid Zuk.

I am hoping this is the same Tim and that you check this site once in a while.

Peace

Firman and Emma L Hinds

Firman was born in New Jersey and moved to California with his family in 1855. His mother and father were David and Hannah (Norman) Hinds. His brothers and one sister were, Mary E 1836, William M 1838, Samuel N 1840, Andrew R 1841, Peter R 1845. I cannot find any marriages for any of the brothers except Peter, who married Nelly. They did not have any children. Firman married Emma and they had 2 children, Veda born October 1877 and Edgar born September 25, 1882. Emma was widowed by the 1910. She remained in Oakland, Cal. Edgar married Clara English June 23, 1909. They had 1 son named David W Hinds who was born January 17, 1911 and died May 18, 1968 in Shasta, California.
Does anyone have any information on this family if there are any living relatives of this family at all?

Dear Timothy,
I guess I was not clear that the girl and boy were adopted by a Firmin family, both parents deceased and the chidren are adults with no clue to their biological parents as the nurse adopted them as their own in an unorthorodox manner by having her name on their birth certificate at the Sarah Mayo hospital in New Orleans ,yes, before 1969.The boy and girl are probably not blood relatives and the girl is the eldest.
I believe the father adopting had older children by his first marriage but the mother adopting did not have other children.I am to understand the children's biological family is from Louisiana and may have been known to the adopting family and may have had no way to take care of more children.I believe these ''adopted'' two have some biological siblings. The girl is fair haired and complected and the boy is dark hair and a more tanned complection and both are goodlooking adults.i will have to meet any kin myself before introducing them to these fine people to make certain they are indeed related.

Paper inside the 1837 Bible states, "The property of Benjamin Wise Firman obtained through the Reverend shown to his father (Benjamin Jacob Firman) for services done in the Revolutionary War and granted to his mother (Lois Dodge Firman) in the year 1839 Oct 7th."

The inside cover of the Bible states, "My mother's Hannah Wood Urang."

I believe the owners of the Bible are 1st Lois Dodge Firman, 2nd Benjamin Wise Firman, 3rd Lois Firman Wood, 4th Hannah Wood Urang, and 5th Leonard Salzer Urang.

The 1837 Bible is leather bound and is 11 inches by 9 inches and 2 and half inches thick. Printed in Cooperstown, New York by H & E Phinney. It is very worn with the first 22 pages missing. The binding is loose. Some family history pages may have been cut out.

I would like this Bible to go to a direct descendant who is willing to share birth, marriage, and death dates with fellow researchers.

The Bible that was given to Lois Dodge Firman for her husband's services during the Revolutionary War is once again in the Firman Family. I no longer have the 1837 Firman Bible. It is now in the possession of Lois Dodge Firman's Great-Great-Great-Great-Granddaughter Liberty.
