Hi Mel

Thanks for your message. I do not have a lot of information except for a copy of the family tree going back to the 1600s. I will be seeing my Mum this weekend and Claude was her grandfather so I will let her know what you have said. I don't think anyone in NZ knows about the link with royalty. That's an interesting fact. Thanks for getting in touch. Is there any information you need from NZ to fill in any gaps you may have? Let me know. We will talk again soon.
Regards,
Dee
Hi there Mel

I think I have some information which may be useful to you. My maternal grandfather was Henry Norman John Firmin born in Wanganui, NZ in 1907. He was one of four sons and one daughter to Norman and Martha Firmin. On our family tree there is reference to the Firmin Button Co.

Hope this is useful

Dee

Yes, I do have more info. Christopher Robert Parker, as you know, married Eliza Vince. CRP's father was James Parker and his mother was Juliet Rolfe. CRP's daughter was Mary Eliza Parker, b. 1820, m. John Josiah Sparks 5 Jun 1843. I have several old records, if you would like to pursue this further.

Christopher Robert would also have been my 3rd great grandfather.

Do you live in U.K.? I am an American. My ancestors, Caroline Augusta Sparks and John Adolphus Farrow having come to the U.S. in the late 1850's.

Thank you for the contact. I did not know about Benjamin Firman, so I have added it to my info. My e-mail address is: pwilson090936@yahoo.com

What information do you have on the family.

My main interest is of Edward who was born around 1857, Walter was born 5.7.1861 in Stoke by Nayland, just north of Colchester.
What's your email address, I can contact you directly, if you wish.

I am Elizabeth Firmin, married to Derek John Firmin born 7th August 1947. Derek's father is an Eric Donald Firmin, born 21st April 1920. He had two brothers - Cecil, 10 or 12 years older, and Doug, again older. both only recently deceased. Doug's wife is still alive ( Ruby) and lives in Norfolk. Eric STILL lives next to TC Firmin's builder's yard in Enfield.I believe his father was a Thomas Charles. I believe my son, Timothy, has also added his name to the Firmin board. We live in Hertfordshire, in and around St.Albans.

That is is parish where all the Firmin's originated that I have any information about. Search under Avoyelles Parish Surnames of French Origin.
Hi Tim, Unfortunately I had the wrong Arthur Firmin. The one I am researching is the son of Edward Firmin born in Nayland, Suffolk. Edward worked as a builder in Ilford and I am sure there is some family connection as I remember my family talking about it. Arthur has four brothers, Ernest, Herbert, Walter and Harold. The is/was a Firmin Builders in Enfield I believe now called Newby Firmin, which may have some connection, have you any knowledge on this?
Regards Paul
