Arvilla Fish's parents were Nathan Fish and Elizabeth Pitcher Fish. (I am having problems finding more information about them.) Nathan died in early 1813 when his daughter Arvilla was only 11 years old. She (and her siblings) received $500 each, but were considered "infants" per the Surrogate Court records. Mother Elizabeth quickly remarried (within 10 months) to Nathan Webster, who was -- ta da -- Charles Ingalls Webster's father. (Nathan Webster's first wife, Mary Andrus, died close to 1813 as well.) So, yes, as you're reading this, you see that Charles Ingalls married his step sister (in about 1816; undocumented). It appears that their difference in age was also shocking: Arvilla was 13 and Charles was 27. But, they stayed married for a LONG time and had 18 children, starting with Nathan Ezekiel Webster in January 1818. I am descended from Hiram Webster.
