Dear Glenn,
My name is Anne (Fister) Robacker. Last spring my sisters and I came upon an article about Thomas Grimm Fister you had written for the Lynnhurst (?) historical society in Berks County, Pa. Assuming you are a Fister decendant, as am I, I thought you migth be interested in what I maybe able to fill you in on. My father was Thomas Reuben Fister b.April 25, 1906 d. Aug. 7, 1971. He was the second son of Alton (Grimm or Daniel) Fister from your published article photo. His eldest brother was an Alton, middle name either Grimm or Daniel (daniel I think) not sure. You also mentioned Alice Minerva Fister, sister in law to Thomas. She was my grandmother and lived till the ripe old age of just shy 107yrs. I believe my Father was named for the 2 brothers of Alton (Grimm?) the patriarch, as there were both a Thomas (your relative, uncle? and a Reuben in that picture.Peter and Durst Fister have also popped up in our family history. I have some more digging to do my my brother in law is very devoted to family history so perhaps I can find the genealogy sheets he sent to me and share them with you if you are instrested.My father was a doctor who served in WWII in the Us and eventually in Europe in the last 9 mos of the war. An interesting history by itself.
I have to admit my interested has been piqued recently because you mentioned that the Pfister family were bakers in and from Bern Switzerland. My youngest son is enroute to Switzerland as I write this and I told him to look the bakery up! (Such a dreamer, I am) He is an undergarduate student at U. of Tenn, here in Knoxville, majoring in Physics and Math. He's on his way to CERN for a 2+ week adventure at the Hadron Collider facility in Cern.
Please let me know if you're interested in any of our family input. It's a small world sometimes and a fascination navigating through it.

I am Edith's youngest son, David. Edith was born in 1901.

I have a charcoal family portrait done by my grandfather which was based on a picture I never saw. The picture referenced may be it.

I am also looking for john gentry fist is the father of a French friend who I want to surprise to find traces of are father or even a picture if it is known to décédé.Il the mother of my friend who was French-surname Sourdonnier in Morocco I believe, and then she left with him in Algeria and then after her pregnancy she could not follow him when he is left with the regiment are sicile.Ensuite his mother the return to France and they have lost a friend contact.Mon seeking all his life but at that time Internet was unheard pas.Aujourd 'Today it has about 67 years and has abandoned all hope.

I am looking for any ancestry for my ggrandparents Benjamin Rasmuson (Rasmussen?) Fister and Mary Corrina Anderson.

I have Mary's parents listed as Martin Anderson and Lisabet Oddson, but I'm not sure if this is correct. I have nothing so far on Benjamin.

Mary was born in Stavanger, Norway, and she came over to the US when she was about 16 (1893). Ben was born in either Stavanger or Fister, Norway, and he came over 1894 when he was about 20. They married in 1894 in Newark, Kendall, Illinois.

Any info is most welcome!

Glenn: Unfortunately, I do not know where she was born, census indicates her parents were also born in PA...she married in 1835 in Mercer County (PER IGI). I too checked the census and found several; that is why I posted hoping someone would see my problem. She died in Kinsman OH in 1894 (before death certificates showing parents & POB)

Sorry: I do not know the answer to that question...I have Eliza who married Christian Betts and no other Fister people married into the Betts family. Christian & Eliza lived in Mercer County PA and Trumbull County OH. Still hoping that someone else has found some additional info.

Do you know where in Pennsylvania she was born? There are a number of Elizabeth Fisters in that period but I can't pin her down exactly. A birthplace or county would help.

Are you still looking for information on this Elizabeth Fister. She was born 8 Nov 1782 and died 11 March 1852 and was married to Daniel Kutz who was born 19 April 1783 and died 4 Dec 1875. She was a daughter of George and Anna Margareth Fister.

At this point I know of 6 children of this marriage. Daniel and Elizabeth Fister Kutz are buried in the old St. John's Burial Ground at Kutztown, Berks County, PA.

I have for many years been working on creating a descendent genealogy of the family of Durst Pfister and his wife Elizabeth (Born) Pfister. They came from Bern Canton, Switzerland and settled in Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania. The family name was later modified to Fister. If you are a descendent of this family, no matter how far removed generationally, I would like to hear from you. This is a project that is far from complete and many branches remain to yet be traced including the descendents of their daughters Anna Maria (Fister) Sharff and Elizabeth (Fister) Reifsnyder. Regarding Elizabeth Fister. Do you know where her family came from. My great-grandfather was Ellis (edwin) Fister was from Fister, Norway and lived in Esterville, Iowa. His brother or uncle was an optometrist in Esterville around the turn of the century.

I just starting researching my family tree. I have a great grandmother who was Martha Hetland married to Ed or Ole Fister. They had 2 sons, Edwin and Martin Walter. I knew Martin as Wally. He lived in Vallejo, California.

Possibly your Ed is the grandfather of my Ed.
Do you know anything else about the family? The father of my Ed, who could be Ole Jr. was a professional ballplayer and an engineer(not sure what type). Moved to Minneapolis and did quite well until the stock market crashed! He died a few years later. My grandfather Edwin lived in the Minneapolis area and owned a gas station/repair shop. The little bit of info I have gotten on the Fisters back in Norway was that at one time they were large landowners and were the Lords Ladies of their area.

My great-grandmother was Edith Fister, born in 1901, who married Ralph Heffley about 1924. I believe her parents were Alfred A. Fister and Ellen Hunsicker. She was born in the Lenhartsville, Berks County area, but died in Allentown. I've only recently begun to research this, so I unfortunately do not know much more. Could this be a relation of yours?

There are so many Pfisters. Here's another connection. My grandma Emily Pfister (1906-1988 ) married Conrad Jurk (1901-1972) and they resided in Sheboygan, Wi. where there are still afew of her Pfister family decendents.
