I'm sorry to bug you again, but I've been trying to contact you about some important information on Lillian Woolf Mitchell. Her mother was my Great Great Grandmother. For a long time my family hasa questioned her existence till you posted a photo on ancestry of her and her daughters and parents. However, I'm in desperate need of answers since some of the dates do not match up. The people's names are correct but I'm trying to find proof that Barney and Emma are really Daisy's parents, and am wondering if Daisy had a half sister named Sarah. Any help would be great. Also I was wondering where you got the photo of Alma E. Weisman. She was my grandfather's sister and no one has seen a picture of her, ever. So this is the first time in over 80 years we are seeing her.

Thanks, Sarah Layman

I am in possession of a book entitled "History of the Fitch Family A. D. 1400-1930" written by Roscoe Conkling Fitch. This book is available from University Microfilms. My late uncle Everett Donald Fitch worked at University Microfilms and had the book printed and bound in an authorized copy sometime in the 1970's. He went by the name of Don and had sisters Virginia Lee (my mother), Mary Mildred, Helen Hester, Millard Rogers Jr. and Phyllis. His father was Millard Rogers Fitch Sr. His grandfather was Joseph Nelson Fitch and his grandmother was Hester Ann Griffey. There were many uncles (Clarence, Russell, Frank, Clyde etc.). Millard Rogers Sr. was married to Mary Hastings McPhee. I am trying to find Joseph Nelson Fitch's father and mother.

Yes, I am still confused. Edwin was my grandfather. I currently live in California. It is fummy how so many people move around and yet I have cousins who still live in the town I grew up in and probably always will. So if Edwin is your great uncle who is your grandmother? I am assuming she is one of his sisters? It gets really complicated as it was a large family. My email address is kitten_sings@yahoo.com if you want to email me. Take care. Brenda.

I have been following with interest you query about Charles Fitch as I am researching William Fitch b. 1888 who had a brother, Charles, b. 1874. William was living in Muskegon, Michigan in 1920. My brother-in-law knew his grandfather, William, and remembers him talking about "Charlie". Their father, Peter Leonard Fitch, lived out his years in a VA hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1926. Not a match to you, but wonder if they are the same extended family as there are many similarities.

the FITCH DNA Surname project is still going...all you have to do is visit familytreeDNA.com and search for a surname project--FITCH--they will mail you a kit for cheek swab, then you are linked in as a member and can view matches worldwide for others searching for matches. You can start with 12 markers and upgrade without a second sample--later on.
Good Luck!

Re: Armstead Fitch

Armstead Fitch was my great, great-grandfather. My mother, who is also from Brenham, is sending me a lot of information on Armstead's family and a family friend of ours (now in her 90s) remembers him visiting her home when she was a little girl. He and his wife had 18 children-one of his daughters was my great-grandmother, Emma.

In 1936, Armstead's son, Nathaniel and Nathaniel's wife Pearl opened Fitch Floral Shop, 1811 Dowling Street, Houston,TX, with its own greenhouse. This idea grew out of the Great Depression years. They believed "people will always buy flowers for weddings, funerals, sickness, and special days" even in hard economic times.
According to Pearl's personal family history, she sold the business in 1977. It is the oldest black owned floral shop in Houston.

I will find out more information from my mother soon to see if I can find out more about Armstead's father.

Hello my name is Sarah Layman, unfortunately this message isn't in response to your post, but I just recently found out we are long distance related through Daisy Miller. Daisy is my Great Great Grandmother and I come through her from her daughter Bessie Mildred (Everhart) Weisman, and her son Ira Everette Weisman, and Ira's daughter Marsha Layman. For 5 years I've been looking for Daisy and was begining to wonder if she was made up, or maybe I had the wrong person, all I had to go by was one old photo of her in the late 1920's before she died. Then I saw all your photos and just about had a heart attack!I was just wondering if you have any more info or photos on the Miller or Everhart family, or Weisman's for that matter, I saw you had my grandpa's sister Alma's car accident and a photo of her. That's the only photo of Alma that my family has seen in about 80 years. Thank you so much for posting it! I'm so glad I found you and I hope to hear from you soon.

Thank you, Sarah Layman

That is correct. The indexes, including the vital records index has her as Jeremiah (son). I consulted the original entry and it is definitely a transcription error. I have printouts from the microfilms of the originals of Jonathan Long's estate distribution and his families vital Records in Coventry, CT. I scanned these and would be happy to send the digital files to whomever would like them. Just provide me with your email.

Congratulations on the results of your research. I would appreciate having an excerpt from or a scan of the estate distribution. I note that an LDS entry that lists the children of Jonathan and Azubah (Cooley) Long has a "Jeremiah" born 28 Mar, 1753. I assume that must be "Jemima."?
John Fitch
www.fitchfamily.com
I broke the brick wall. Jemima was not Jemima Clay. She was Jemima Long, daughter of Jonathan Long and Azubah Cooley of Coventry and Tolland, CT. Jonathan Long's estate distribution mentions his daughter Jemima, wife of Jesse Fitch. Her birth date also agrees with her age at death as recorded on her tombstone.

I don't think Harold Lyman Fitch could have been the son or grandson of Lyman and Leora (Hart) Fitch. You give the names of their children and their birth dates, but she would have been quite old (63) to have Harold. Their son, Arthur Lyman had a son Harold, but he was Harold Wakefield, not Harold Lyman. Further this family res. New Hampshire, not Nebraska. You say you have more info; if it helps clarify this, please share it. Thanks.
John T.
