Need photo ID of "Mrs. Fite", probably Warren Co, TN

In my mother's things was this pic.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/montanapets/6932663622/in/set-7...
On the back it says "Mrs. Fite, Ma Evans closest friend." Ma Evans would be GGM,Nancy Jane (Evans) Reynolds (1860-1934) married to Thomas Monroe Reynolds (1851-1920). Nancy is found in the Warren Co census every year except 1900 she and Thomas appear in DeKalb. I found this one findagrave that sure looks like her: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=Fi...;
I emailed the person who posted it but he didn't reply. It's interesting that she's an Evans too which intrigues me even more to know if she's also a relative. There's a huge age diff in the two women but the pics look an awful lot alike. Can you ID this person?
Dianne

Hi. I'm looking for info on my great grandfather. He only appears in the 1920 census for McAlester, OK. He married my ggma (Masel Shelton) at the age of 18 and he lived with her parents in McAlester, OK. They had one child (my grandfather) and split up soon after. He then married Laura P Young abt 1922 and they had 2 children BH and Marjorie. I was told he died in 1938 in Kiowa County, OK. According to the 1920 census, he was born in Louisiana and worked on the Railroad

Thomas Fite is my great grand father. Laura was his 2nd wife. My grand father James Shelton and B.H. are step brothers. Do you have an aunt named Marjorie? Thomas Fite at the age of 18 was first married to Masel Shelton and they had my grandpa. Somehow they split and my grandpa was adopted by Masel's parents, hence the last name Shelton. The trail has gone cold as far as info on Thomas Fite. I believe he died 1938 in Kiowa County, OK. Have you found any additional info?

Hallo there,

I've been researching the life of Captain John Wesley Fite's great-grandson, the noted character actor Logan Ramsey (Logan Carlisle Ramsey Jr, 1921-2000), as part of a creative writing assignment which has steadily grown into a quest.

I would be very grateful if you are able to share the photo and biographical material with me - e-mail scans would be fine. This is purely for my private study.

Incidentally, Captain Fite's burial details are now listed on Find A Grave but no photo has yet been added. I'm hoping a Fite descendant will see this message and perhaps be able to contribute to that.

Hi Mary, I do not have much information on your Fite line.
I do not believe that you are descended from Johannes and Catherine Fite. I do not believe that Gilbert is a son of Johannes.
Go to Google Book Search and put in The Fite Family. Click on that and put in page 106. This tells about the Maryland family of Heinrich Vogt. On page 113, it mentions a Andrew Fite who died in Indiana. Maybe this is your Andrew. I have not really researched this branch of the family. Let me know if you have problems finding this information.

Pat

Give me a little more information. Is the last name of your Andrew M Fite or Fites. There is not any Fites listed in the book. What are the dates and places of his birth and death. The book has many errors as Elizabeth S. Fite mixed the children of two Peter Fite's. If you go to Google Books, at least part of the book is listed online.

Pat

Also, to clarify, my inquiry was in regards to the circumstances of John Benjamin Fite's death. I will have to look up the death certificate for the details, but he is listed as a widower and a pauper, and apparently buried in potter's field; my records indicate that Sarah Ellen Havens Fite was still alive at the time of John's death.

Hi Dennis, I was actually finishing up an email to your yahoo address when I received an alert that a response had been posted to this thread. Check your inbox (it will be coming from jefauth@gmail.com) for a more detailed explanation of my research thus far.

I was aware that Benjamin Franklin Fite was killed during the civil war, but I do not have his death certificate. I do have Bathsheba's petition for a widower's pension though, which also lists John Benjamin as a dependent.

I also have two deeds that record John Benjamin Fite Sr.'s land purchases in Lewis County, Kentucky, in 1879 and 1897.

I will check my records and post these if I've transcribed them.

Death of Mrs. Sallie T. Fite - 1891

Taken from the Cherokee Advocate, Oklahoma, 15 April 1891

Died - At Sherman, Texas, April 12th inst., Mrs. Sallie T. Fite. Mrs. Fite was born in Franklin County,Georgia, September 3rd, 1823 and moved with her father, Felix G. Denmon, to old Cass County in that State, when she was quite young, where she has lived ever since only when visiting her children in this country. In about the year 1846 she was married to Mathew Thompson, a brother of Capt. Johnson Thompson of this place. By this union there are now living two sons, Dr. J. A. Thompson of Tahleuah and Parson Gilbert Thompson of Sherman, Texas. She subsequently married Dr. Henderson Fite, who has been here a short time. By this marriage six children are now living, three of them, Dr. Richard Fite of this place also Mrs. Dr. Treadwell, and Dr. Bartow Fite of Muskogee, all of whom, are well known to the citizens of this community. We have known the deceased for fifty years as we were raised near each other in the "Old Nation" North Georgia. Although brought up in the lap of wealth she possessed from childhood remarkable business and industrial habits supplemented by a strong and vigorous mind which have eminently qualified her to meet the reversal of fortune though she had reached middle age. Her great ambition was to educate her children and bring them up in ways of respectability, and to this end she has, not only to her children direct, but to her numerous grandchildren, spent the remnant of her days. In recording the demise of Mrs. Fite we are touched with a sense not ordinarily felt in records of this character. We went to school together, played together when children, and in maturer years associated together at socials and festivals such as were common at that day and time in Old Pine Log Valley Peace to her ashes.
