Penobscot Indian connection

Surnames: Fitz
My grandfather Harold Ellis Fitz's parents were Ellen Vanesta Randel and Roswald Erin Fitz. I have been told that they were both born on the Indian reservation in Maine. Does anyone have any information on this or a possible link? Thanks so much!!
