Some research carried out by my father (Brian Flatley) and my cousin, Maureen Sawbridge. My g-g-grandfather was Hugh Flatley who came from Kilkelly, Co Mayo. He married Mary (Cox). Possibly from the same generation, Kitty and Jane married locally and Michael went to USA. In the next generation, Thomas married Agnes Keegan in 1869 and had four girls and 6 boys: Catherine, Mary, Jane, Brigid, Hugh (my grandfather), Michael, Thomas, Patrick and John who both went to Manchester and Jim to USA. Hugh married Mary McCurdy and they lived in Cushendall, Co Antrim. They had my father, Brian, Kevin (a priest), John (lived in Bolton), Gerald, Maire (lived in Wigan), Eithne and possibly one other - all deceased. I have two brothers, Michael who lives in Scotland and Brian who lives in Belfast and Cushendall. They each have girls, so the Flatley name will die out in our line of the family. The last time I looked, there were no other Flatleys in the Northern Ireland telephone directory. Hope this information may be of use to someone!
