Admiral James Henry Flatley was my grandfather's 1st cousin. My grandfather was James Bogan of Chicago and Mackinac Island. I am trying to fill in the blanks in the family tree and would love to get information on my "Flatley" relations. There is also a connection with the Flatley/Hagerty line. Thanks for any information.

julesatl1961@yahoo.com
Michael Flatley and Mary Waldron of Ballyhaunis

My name is Joanne Flatley and I am trying to trace back my family tree for my father. My father, John Flatley is an only child to Vincent Flatley who was born in Ballyhaunis in the early 1900s. My grandfather Vincent said very little about his family as he seemed reluctant to speak of them but we know on his birth certificate his parents are named as Michael Flatley and Mary Waldron who I guess must have been born around 1880. The sponsors were named as Thomas and Anne Flatley.

On his marriage certificate (married in Birmingham, UK in 1930s) it names his father as a Walter Flatley which we think is a bit odd.

We know that all his brother and sisters emigrated to America with his parents and left him behind with his aunt and uncle (possibly Thomas and Anne or maybe the mysterious Walter?)

I have looked at many websites but can't seem to find any records that match. If there is anyone who can help please reply below and I'll be happy to pass on my email. Thanks

I have Flatleys from Leeds: David Flatley (born c1862 Ireland) married Mary Winifred Burke (born 1864 Ireland) on 11 October 1884 at St Patrick's RC Church, Leeds. On the marriage certificate David's father was Martin Flatley (deceased) and Mary Winifred's father was Michael Burke. Most of the family emigrated to the USA 1907-1910 and lived in Harrison, Hudson New Jersey. Do you have any of these names?
Susan

i know very little of my family ancestors.
my greatgrandfather is john flatley born 1836 i only know the county mayo i believe he married a margaret boyle, i tried south mayo records and no record of a marriage there pre 1858 .i know they lived in kidderminster and believe john is buried there his children are william my grandfather, bridget, mary, patrick, john,.all born in kidderminster .i have a marriage cert for a patrick married to a margaret boyle and often wondered if this is a brother to john or maybe john himself, it seems unlikely they had the same name for their wives.
i have search for so long now and am no where near finding the place of origin for him.
john visited his sister mary farm in wolverhampton in 1881 she married an austin jordan
after all this info i was wondering if you have any of these flatleys in your tree. i would love to hear from you
thank you
ann

Hi Mike,

Sorry for the delay in responding but just got back home and saw your message.

I don't find any Flattley's in my Flynn family but I'm still missing some siblings of my gr grandfather, Thomas Flynn, so I guess anything is possible. The majority of my Flynn's ended up in Watertown and Fulton, NY.

I'll keep your information, just in case.

Thanks,

Kathy

FLATLEY FAMILY COUNTY MAYO

Hi

i wonder if anyone could help me i am looking for information on the family of my late grandmother Anne J Flatley born Apr 1919 in county mayo. unfortuantly i have a severe lack of information about the family of my grandmother. the information i have is that she was one of 12 or 13 children all of whom were girls apart from one boy. The names of some of the other siblings were Nora, Peggy, Theresa and Kate.

This is pretty much all I know. My grandfather married Anne on 29th March 1949 in Chertsey SURREY, ENGLAND.

And it seems that Theresa also lived locally when my father was younger but she died before I was born over 22 years ago i believe.

Nora and Peggy moved to America at some point details of which are unknown.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Jenny

Kathy:

I don't have any info on the Flyn connection, but I also come from the Flatley family of Templeboy parish. My ggg-grandfather Andrew Flatley was christened there in the parish church in 1838. His parents were Patrick Flately and Mary Hillas who married in the parish about 1826. They had 6 sons and a daughter. The witness to the baptism of their third child Bernard was a Hugh Flynn. A Mariah Gilgan appears as the god mother for several of the baptisms (Gilgan is the name of your Catherine Flynn's maid of honor).

Patrick Flatley had a brohter Hugh. Their father's name was Michael Flately. Perhaps your Patrick and my Patrick were cousins. Do you have any Flatley information? My family settled in Easton New York

There are still Flatleys in Kinvara as well as a pub called P.J. Flatley and I believe it is run by Frank Flatley, a second cousin of mine.
