My cousins descend from Eli Calvin Flaugh & Cora Jane Easterly. Eli's parents are Alexander Flaugh & Margaret Finarty. They also say Alexander's parents are John Flaugh & Margaret Magoogan/McGoogan. Eli Calvin & "Jennie" Flaugh are both buried in an Orient, Adair County, Iowa. I have more data on these families & other relatives, if you want to exchange it for more of your information.

Am interested in sharing information with descendants of Flaugh family members who lived around Pagosa Springs, CO starting in the 1880s. Frederick Flaugh and Caroline Eaton's children, including my ggf Simon, moved from Crawford County, PA to southwestern Colorado, eventually dispersing to Utah, Arizona and New Mexico in addition to Colorado. The Flaugh family married into the Chambers, Minium, Diehl, Carman and Parmenter families living in southwest Colorado. I have many photos of the Flaugh family in this area.

Garret: My message has nothing to do with the Flaugh family; it's regarding your name. McEver/McKeever/Keever/Kever names are family names of mine. In fact, Garrett as a surname is also. My great-great-grandmother was Cynthia Garrett, born Va., raised her family in Ohio, died Iowa. Her husband was Joseph Keever, son of John Keever/Kever (born McEver or McKeever in Frederick County, Maryland, in 1761). John Keever and his first wife (name unknown) had several children, including Jacob Kever (he went by Kever, but his father eventually settled on Keever). My 2-greats grandfather Joseph was Jacob's half-brother. Since your name is Garrett Kever, it seems likely you'd be related to my Keever/Kever family and my Garrett family.

Re: Flaugh/Engelhaupt

Hi, I have Fayette Flaugh married to Andrew J. Bates, but have seen conflicting posts as to just which Andrew J. Bates this was. Some have him born 1806, yet the 1850 Greene Twp, Mercer County PA census lists him with an 1825 birthdate. Their children were: Sarah, Emeline, Samuel, Anne, Hannah, Charlotte, Daniel and Mary.

The Andrew Bates, born 1806, has been listed as the son of Christian and Elizabeth Birch Bates. This Andrew married Jane Sisley. I found them living in S. Shenango, Crawford county, PA in 1850 with children: Nancy A., Resin, Hannah, Henry R. and Elizabeth.

Christian Bates later married Fayette Flaugh's mother Hannah Englehaupt Flaugh Probst/Brobst.

Christian's son Benjamin married another daughter of Hannah Flaugh's, Lea Flaugh in 1836.

Christian's son Jeremiah married yet another daughter of Hannah, Elizabeth Ann, in 1838.

It seems to make more sense that Andrew J. 1825 would be the son of Christian and Elizabeth Birch.

I look forward to hearing from anyone else researching these lines!

Thanks in advance,
Diane

Floch - Flaugh

Awhile back, I had met a gentleman who had provided me some genealogical information for the Flaugh family. Unfortunately I do not have contact with him nor do I have the information, but the tidbit of information that sticks in my mind is that their was an Adolf Floch who came to the United States from Germany in the 1700's and his name was transformed into what is now the surname Flaugh, and from what I gathered, I believe that Adolf Floch was a direct ancestor to my father, Thomas Flaugh. Flaugh is my last name by adoption, though I am still including it in my genealogical persuits, though not as heavily as my birth ancestry. I hope this information could prove valuable, and let me know if I can be of assistance to anyone. The information I was given above, I believe, was obtained from the Blair County (Pennsylvania) Genealogical Society.
