Hello there, Mary Alice Flaxman was the sister of my g.grandad Charles Joseph Flaxman. On the 1861 census they were mistranscribed as Flatman at 61? Ann street Brighton. In 1871 she was living with her husband Charles Hewish (a Tailor), at 37 Claremount St Brighton. Have you gone back to her grandparents. Her grandad was James Flexman but I don`t know where he was born,he was on Joseph Pitchers` marriage cert as a gardener.
