I am looking for relatives on my Grandmother's side and am hoping I can find them. Her Mother was Brigid Fleck who then married Frank (or Frederick) Meyer, who had immigrated to the US from Germany.
My Grandmother's name was Catherine Ida Meyer who i believe was born in Ferdinand Indiana and I believe also lived in Kentucky. I also believe she (grandmother) had 9 siblings. It would be wonderful if we could find out more about our family history.
Thanks so much for any help you can give me.

Janiene Poushay

I was interested in the Germany Flecks. My ggreatgrandfather was James Fleck supposed to be from that area. My Greatgrandfather was William H. Fleck from Johnstown,Pa. His Mother was Elizabeth (Donaldson) Fleck who I assume was married to a Fleck , because William and his Mother was living with her parents in Benshoff Hill area in the 1860 cenus. His father must have been killed somehow because James marries her in and around 1866. James was in the civil war. I know nothing about his parents or brothers which I can trace. Thanks Jenny

Do you have any infro on the Germany Flecks. I was told my ggreatgrandfather was from there. He was a James Fleck who married a Elizabeth (Donaldson) Fleck around 1866. He was in the civil war. He lived and died here in Johnstown,Pa. but was married I believe near Lewisburg,Pa. My gereatgrandfather was William H. Fleck but I really believe that James was not his real father and there was another Fleck relative who was that maybe died. William was born in 1855. I don't know if they are from the Sinking Valley Flecks or not?? William shows up on the 1860 cenus with his mother as a Fleck living with her parents on Benshoff Hill. I don't think she marries James until around 1866. Thanks for your time. Jenny

I got a certified copy of a death certificate today for the above named individual. I had thought she might be the first wife of my great uncle Joseph Fleck, who died young, shortly after the birth of their son Ernest, but now I don't know what to think. The details are sketchy but indicate this person was not married. Father is listed as Ralph Fleck of St. Anthony, born in Russia. Mother is listed as Fiona or Frona Rice, born in Russia. Date of death was 04/16/1923. She was a student. That's all it's got. I am having a hard time finding anyone in the 1910 or 1920 censuses who fills the bill. Any help appreciated.

He was about 32 years old a this marriage, which makes me wonder if there was a wife before Jane who may have died. This timeline would work if so.

I am not sure exactly sure where in Germany, my dad tells me somewhere possibly named Kasel, but all most all of them ended up in Pennsylvania. If it does turn out that we are related, you might want to go to ancestry.com search for Fleck, and click on the maps&photos tab there are alot of pictures of Fleck ancestors, most of my father's were entered by a JasonTFleck, I have yet to figure out who he is, I do know that alot of his info may have come from a book that my Uncle Layard Leroy Fleck, had put together years ago, but unfortunately he passed away in August of 2006. But I would love to share any info I may have also with you, if in fact we are researching the same Flecks, take care,
Debbie Lawrie (Fleck)
sweetieinsc@yahoo.com

Thanks so much for your reply,
I think the information you have that Marvel was adopted is correct, and that the Mauntler's I am looking at are of the same family.
In the 1900 census OH, with Henry Mauntler as the head of house, Marvel is listed as "adopt daughter". In the 1910 census she is "daughter".

Just for clarification......Samuel and Jane were married in Staunton, Augusta County, Virginia in 1829. Samuel was from Pa; Jane was native to Va. First son George was born in 1830, soon followed by John H., Anastasia, Mary Jane, Minerva, Mahala, Samuel V (Jr.), and twins Edgar and William. (Edgar is my great-grandfather.) Josephine was a grand-daughter, possibly John's daughter from a first wife who died. Samuel served in the War of 1812, enlisting in Pa. How he came to WVa is unknown, possibly due to a land grant from war service.

There is a possibility she was adopted.

1920 census shows her in Chicago, Cook, IL w/husband & two sons. Living in the same building is M Henry (age 55)& Elfie (age 43) Mauntler. Henry & parents were born Ohio; Elfie was born Wisconsin, father born Germany, mother born America.
I found two old newspaper references which may help you.

1. FLECK, Samuel. Married on Thursday evening last, by the Rev. Mr. DeWitt [Presbyterian pastor], Mr. Samuel Fleck, to Miss Anne Milan, all of Harrisburg. [Oracle of Dauphin, Saturday, 23 Sep. 1820.]

2. FLECK, Ann MILEHAM, Mrs. Died on Monday last [that is, 27 Sep 1824], in this borough, Mrs. Ann Fleck daughter of Wm. Mileham, in the 34th year of her age. [Harrisburg Chronicle, Monday, 4 Oct 1824.]

Both of these refs are from the PA State Library's web site, under Harrisburg Newspaper Index.

I am also researching Harrisburg Flecks and would be interested in any information you may have collected.

Lloyd Fleck
Hello,
I am the grandaughter of Kerry Fleck. Her son Robert Thompson is my father. he was born in washington state in the year 1964. I am sorry I can not give you any info on her whereabouts. I have never met the women I olny have heard about her. It is true that she abandoned my dad and his sister Don at a very young age. I don't know if my father has any info on her or even if he's willing to talk about it. You can contact me for more if you'd like.
Dani
