The Fleeman families seem to be hard to track down, as I have been tracking my grandmother's siblings for 25 years and have only found two out of five. Can you provide your dads date of birth, and the county in VA He came from? Most of my Fleeman family was from Pulaski, and Wythe Counties.
Regards
Steve

I recently tried to research the Fleeman name, (My maiden name), because I have never met any other Fleeman's that weren't immediate family. Maybe this information will help someone find what they are looking for, or possibly help me find some additional information about my dad's family.
His parents were William Fleeman and Elsie Dudley. They had 12 children. The youngest 2 girls were sent to live with Elsie's sister in Arizona. I don't know her name. I have been told that my grandfather, William Fleeman's family was from Virginia, but he and my grandmother lived in Southern WV while they were raising their family. They moved to Florida to retire. He was a Church Pastor in Southern WV. I recently contacted a person in Midlothian, Texas after searching the internet for Fleeman's. She said that was a common name there, but she didn't think they were related to the Fleeman's in VA or WV. I would love to know more about the Fleeman's that originated in VA.

I am also in WV and have Fleemans in my tree. I have a Thomas m. Sarah Tomason. His parents were Thomas Jefferson and Elizabeth Ellis Fleeman. He had a brother Joseph. My Fleeman tree starts with Eliza Jane Fleeman m. William Jasper Hall. Her parents were Joseph E and Malinda Brogan Fleeman. Jospeh E's parents were Joseph and Delilah Hodges Fleeman. That Joseph's parents were Thomas J and Elizabeth Ellis Fleeman. I have some info if you would like to contact me at craftyjac@gmail.com. Be sure to list the subject as Fleeman or I may not answer it. It sounds like we are researching the same line. Eliza Jane was my great grandmother.

The Albert Sidney Fleeman that is the son of Joseph Fleeman and Sarah Barrow did not have any children. He died in Illinois in about 1967. We met him and his sister Jessie in Springfield IL in about 1966.

Are you sure of his birthdate? The Albert Sidney Fleeman that is the son of Joseph and Sarah was born in Ewing IL on Nov 19 1872. That may be the source of the confusion. He shows up on the 1880 census with his parents in IL.

I love looking at the pictures. I did find another newspaper article saying they were searching for the body of Freddie. The only difference in the article is that it stated that he couldn't swim.

My grandfather lost a son at the age of 12 in a horse accident.
Thank you so much! WP Fleeman was my gr gr grandfather.
His first born, Olive, was my gr grandmother and Fred's half sister. Olive had left Kansas after my grandmother was born in 1907. I have no idea if Olive met her half brother Fred.

Olive (Olaf) was born in 1876. Her daughter was my grandmother, Clara. I had found Fred and his mother Maud through a search a couple years ago. I knew he had died young but how he died I didnt know. I am a novice at this and I work full time. I usually start back up searching as a hobby after Halloween. Its a great winter hobby.
Im an avid gardner and outdoor adventurer in the spring and summer.

Thank you again for the information. I live in Washington state. Olaf Fleeman married Frank Goble in 1895 and left Kansas and eventually ended up in Washington state.
Thank you again, I can add this to my Family Tree maker info.
First picture is WP Fleeman and the second picture is his grandaughter Clara, my grandmother.

Sincerely, Julie

I have research on the FLEEMAN line. Thomas Fleeman (Rev War) had son George Fleeman (1791-1870) m. 1818 in Henry Co, VA to Martha/Patsy Perkinson (1797-1889). This family migrated from Henry Co, VA to Cedar Co, MO in 1843. Both died in Cedar Co, MO. Would like to share what I know if this could be your family.
Do you have dates or a state?

I have no idea where Pulaski County was located, i.e. NY, Nova Scotia, Russia or ?other.

Hard for folks to help you with limited information you provided.

Your query:
I have conflicting information concerning parents of Albert Sidney Fleeman ( my grandfather) . Pulaski County records show his parents to be John and Elizabeth. All other boards and sites show them to be Joseph Henry and Sarah Ann Barrow? One site lists Albert Sidney with the correct birth date as their child. I have been unable to find anything on John and Elizabeth. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Yes, thanks again for responding. I don't know our family relationship very well either. But it seems that the Fleemans that I branch off from were from Pulaski also and contemporaries of the other families and adopted children in the records preserved. Most of my Fleeman line are now in VA/WV/OH. So they seemed to stay in the region at least. Good luck with the searching, I know that this is a hard family to trace!

They moved to Claiborne County TN and continued to live there after the 1860 census. Carolyn Lucado Griffin You can contact the historical society and they sent me pages of information about the family lines. CLGriffinY@aol.com

My great grandparents were John and Elizabeth Fleeman of Pulaski, Va.
Frederick Price Fleeman (Giles Co & Pulaski Co, VA)

Hello. I am looking for information about my father's family. Please note that I do not know much, as my father died when I was young and much of the family histories and paperwork are missing. Here's what I know:.

My grandfather, Frederick Price Fleeman, was born in White Gate VA (Giles county) to Charles and Lucy (Price) Fleeman on March 3, 1901.

He also had a sister, who never married, named Gertrude. I think that she ended-up in Norwalk (or Norwood) Ohio.

At about 18, he left Virginia to attend university in Ohio and settled there after marrying. He and my grandmother lived on a farm that they named "White Gate Farm" after his "hometown". He died in 1979.

The only other story I have heard throughout the years is that he had a uncle who was wounded in the civil war (a missing arm, I believe). He supposedly was a tremendous carpenter.

Any assistance you could provide would be so wonderful.

Hello! Thank you for the reponse! Patrick Fleeman was from Cedar Township in Missouri. He was born abt 1858 and died Feb 1938. He had a son named John or J.W. Fleeman who was born in 1885 and died 1940. I don't know much about Martha, my only source is a 85 year old great uncle. He tells me that Martha was American Indian ( Cherokee ), I just can't find anything to link it all together. Please let me know if you have any information, Thanks!

He married Mary Elizabeth UNKNOWN, b. 2/18/1851 in TN, and d. 2/13/1925 in Claiborne Co., TN. I show them married in 1867. Her siblings were Sarah Catherine, Charles,John Williamm Hettie, & Martha Elizabeth.
I am still researching, so I have more questions than answers. Many people have helped me accumulate what I have, so I am very grateful all of them. Hope this helps.

Hi Julie,
I happened to see this post mentioning W.P. Fleeman. I recently read a newspaper article mentioning his son Fred who drowned.
Date: August 1, 1902
Location: Missouri
Paper: Kansas City Star
Page 1

FRED FLEEMAN'S BODY FOUND

It Had Been Carried From the Kaw Down the Missouri to Lexington

The body of Fred Fleeman, the 12 year old boy who was drowned while swimming in the Kansas river Tuesday, was found in the river yesterday evening at Lexington, Mo. His father W.P. Fleeman of Lansing, Kas., identified the body yesterday.

Fred Fleeman resided at 617 East Thirteenth street in this city. Tuesday afternoon he was bathing with some other boys in the Kansas river near the stock yards bridge when he slipped from the bank into sixteen foot of water. His playmates were unable to save him and all efforts to recover the body were futile.

I am not a relative. I just thought you might like the information.
Eellitta

I have information that my ggg grandparents were Joseph and Keziah (Matthews) Their son, John and Elizabeth (Burton) were my gg grandparents. Their son, Albert Sidney Fleeman, was my grandfather. This is info from census and marriage records. The only thing I am positive of is my grandfather and great grandparents, John and Elizabeth. I am still trying to find confirmation. The same census states that
Joseph's fathter was Francis. There is controversey over Francis. Some think Francis is a female and the male maybe Archibald. I am still trying to contact the source of the census records to answer my questions. If I can confirm any of it, I will pass it along to you. Until last year, I had lived my entire life, early part of which was in Pulaski. If all this is true, we are cousins, several times removed. My father was Sidney Matthew and his father was Albert Sidney. I am the youngest of two girls - thus the name Sidna.
