Annis Atkinson Flippin of Pittsylvania Co., VA

Today I found the gravestone of Annis Flippin, whom I believe to be the wife of Joseph Flippin, who came to Pittlsylvania Co., VA from Cumberland County circa 1779.

The hand-inscribed rock reads:

Annis Flippin (the "S" was backwards)
Born 1757 Decm. 13
1835 Aug 2

I'm not sure her grave has been documented before. It was on Hillside Rd. in the Ringgold area, not far from the old P.P. Sheppard home. There were other graves there but no inscribed stones. About a half mile away is the Humphrey Dodson cemetery.

Mike K. Williams

The reference I'll cite here is the June 30, 1870 census for Meade Township, Huron County, Michigan. There are 11 members of the immediate Mayhew family listed. Matilda Mayhew, the first born in Michigan, was 9 years old. My Great GF,Joseph Mayhew, was her brother (15 yrs., born in Canada). I've been unable to connect with the correct Canadian Mayhew line. Is De Majors her (Matilda's) mother's maiden name? Were the Beautrow's native French speakers?

I am looking for ancestors of the family of Flippins from Louisville, Kentucky Jefferson County. My grandfather's name was John Ambrose Flippins. I am looking for his father's name and that is where I run into a stone wall. I can not find his name in the Kentucky death index or the SSDI. It seems none of the children know anything about their grand father either. My mother's first name was Irma maiden name Flippins she was one of the historians but has now passed away. I would appreciate any help if possible.

I'm searching for a Mr. Flippin (unknown 1st name) who was my Grandfather's best friend in the early 1900s. My Grandfather Robert Rogers was born in 1904 and served in the US Navy for 23+ years. They served on several different ships and fought in many different battles in WWII and the South Pacific, etc. I calculate that his best friend Mr. Flippin would be about 80-85 years old now. Any info on Mr. Flippin would be a great help. I would LOVE to talk to him or his relatives. Thank you.

Tammi - Luv2bMomX3@aol.com

Patsy Jean Flippin in Texas

I am searching for a long lost relative. Her married name is Flippin. I believe her maiden name was Swanson. She was born in 1941. I believe that she is a psychologist or possibly family counselor. She could be retired and may have a daughter? I believe they contacted my grandmother a few years ago regarding family information. Since then, we have learned alot about the family and would like to contact them. Any information would be much appreciated.

I to am a decendant of Rhonda McDoo Flippen, Her youngest son Allen Flippen married Rosanna Baugh in 11 Nov 1824 in Barren County, Kentucky. She was born in Barren County about 1803.There were only two Baugh, William and Philip in the 1810 census and three Baugh, William, Rosannah and Philemon in the 1820 census. Its possible that Elizabeth Baugh is also related to my Rosanna. I too have a lot information on the Flippens now trying to find the Baugh. My line goes from Allen and Rosanna daughter Laura who married a James Jenkins.
