Just a few years late and don't know if you still log on here, but I think that we might be able to exchange some info. I'm descended from the Winson family that moved to South Amherst, Ohio as well. Through Thomas Winson and Letitisha Miller. I believe that Thomas had a brother, John Winson, but I'm not 100% certain on that.

Andrew Jackson Flowers

Looking for children or grandchildren of Andrew Jackson and Emily(Booth) flowers.Their daughter Nettie Mae was my grandmother she was born in Arkansas--Andrew was born in Illionis and Emily in Missouri. They moved to Twin Falls Idaho and are buried there. My mother never knew they had moved to Idaho. Nettie died when my mom was 10 years old and her Dad moved the family to California so she never knew any of the Flowers. Thanks for any help you can give me.

MILLINGTON, Md. - Susan Rebecca "Becky" Flowers, of Millington, died on Oct. 27, 2009, at Chester River Hospital Center. She was 61. Born on July 25, 1948, in Chestertown, daughter of the late James and Florence (Wallace) Powell. She was a life long resident of Kent County. On March 25, 1967, she married Morgan Flowers. Becky enjoyed reading romance novels and loved spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Douglas Wayne Flowers; a sister, Peggy Elseworth; and two brothers, Robert Powell and Kenny Powell. In addition to her husband she is survived by, a daughter, Sharon Sewell and her husband Charles of Lincoln, Del.; a sister, Patsy Wilson of Sudlersville; two brothers, Jim Powell of Smyrna, Del., and Louis Powell of Millington; three grandchildren, Amber Chaffins, Alaina Sewell, and Shane Sewell; and also survived by a daughter-in-law, Melody Anthony of Kent Island. Funeral Services will be at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, Millington. Interment will be in Millington Asbury Cemetery.

I should have read you other post first. Your father John and my father Arkla (aka Jack) are brothers. The Arkla that you are looking for is ARKLA ARBRASKA FLOWERS...our Grandfather. My Father was named after his dad, Arkla Elroy Flowers (aka Jack). I wish I would have found this years agoI see it was posted in 1999.... I hope that you are still connected to this site. You and I are First-Cousins and we have never met.... I am not shock with as many kids that were in that family. All but one is gone now, Loretta is still alive as I write this but in failing health. Decendants of John Arthur Flowers dob 1851

I had always been under the impression that both my dad and his dad were only children. I started this project to locate my wife's kin but in the process found that my grandfather, Charles Allen Flowers, had brothers John W. born in 1875, Morris H. born in 1876, Wiley born in 1877 and a sister Ethel born in 1879.

My great grandfather was John Arthur Flowers born around 1851 in Barbour County, Alabama.

If anyone has any information about my grandfathers brothers and sister, I would appreciate hearing from you.

I have a widow, Martha Flowers, on the 1850 census in Gibson Co., Tennessee living between two brothers of Jacob Flowers. They are Jacob, Jr. and Hillary Flowers. Martha has 10 children listed: Elizabeth, Thomas P., Mary, Lee, Madison, Harvey, Matilda, William, Amanda L., and Martha born 1849. Her "Flowers" husband must have died around late 1848 or 1849. Any clues who the spouse is?

I just came across your posting on the Stinson family in Calais and I may have some relevant information for you. My g-grandfather (Thomas Wright b. 1858) was born in Calais (then called Milltown) in 1858. His parents were William Wright and Mary Stinson Wright. The Wrights moved there from New Castle, New Brunswick. The 1860 Census for Calais (page 2, 2nd ward) shows William, Mary and their two sons (Thomas and Archibald)living in a residence with several other members of the Stinson family. They are: Catherine (Mary's mother) and Michael, James, Elizabeth, Susan and a younger Catherine. The household appears again in the 1870 census (p5, 2nd ward.)By then Susan was married and widowed (Name: Susan McSane) with three children. By 1880 William and Thomas Wright had moved to my present location (Stillwater Minnesota). Mary Stinson Wright is not mentioned so my assumption is that she died in Calais.

Flowers Surname YDNA Update

There are two new Flower/Flowers' YDNA tests to report on. One test is close match to three others already tested. The other test represents a distinct Flowers' family not previously counted.

So, from the twenty-nine currently available Flowers Y-DNA test results, we can conclude that there are probably at least twenty-two unrelated Flowers progenitors, with at least eighteen of those from the British Isles alone.

That means that at least twenty-two families, unrelated to each other, took the surname "Flower" or "Flowers" as surnames came to be adopted several hundred years ago.

To the best of my knowledge, no descendant of Captain John Flowers has yet been tested, a strange circumstance when one considers the very large number of descendants from this progenitor, and that two editions of a book have been written about this Flowers' line and a third edition is now in the process of being written.

I live and am a Williams County native. My family with an"S" are from Toledo and
Venango PA.before that. The phone book has 2in Montpelier, 2 in Bryan,3 in Edgerton.These are without the "s". The only Flowers with an 'S' is my family. Good Luck.

My 3x Great-Grandfather was John FLOWER bc.1804 Publow. He married Ann ???? possibly from Chelwood or Stowey. They lived in Publow where he was a labourer and coalminer until he died 27 Apr 1878. (Unfortunately and rather confusingly, he is not the John Flower who was born in Publow around the same time and went on to become the tenant of Cottles Farm)

They had 7 children:- Francis 1829-? (married Ann STOKES 9/1855) Eliza 1833-1901 Charity 1835-1901 (married Israel WHITING 17/5/1857) Louisa 1838-? (married John HAWKINS 1/6/1863) Hannah 1841-? Mary Ann 1844-? (married Charles BAILEY 13/12/1864) Samuel 1847 -? Francis and Ann had William George FLOWER 11/2/1856, who married Annie BLANDFORD and had Samuel FLOWER 1895-1950, my Grandfather.

I'd be delighted to hear from anyone with connections to the above. I have quite a lot of information to share with anyone interested in this line.

I have cross-posted this from FLOWER, as later, some lines of the family seem to have adopted the 'S'.

Flowers family in Bluffton Indiana

I'm seeking information about the Flowers family that resided in Bluffton, Indiana around 1900. They were descendants of John Jefferson Flowers.

Specifically, I am seeking information about my great great grandmother, Viola Flowers. She married Daniel McCormick in 1880, in Wells Co, IN.

I know that she was alive in 1880, but Daniel was widowed in 1900. Her last known child was born in 1894. It's unclear if she passed during childbirth or if there was another cause.

I know where Daniel and all their children are buried in Grant Co, IN...but have been unable to find any information about Viola's death or where she may be buried.

I've seen a lot of her family listed in Six Mile Cemetery in Wells Co, IN...but have not seen her listed. Any suggestions or help would be much appreciated.

Thomas Flowers was in the tax list of 1793
He died before 29 Mar 1795 when she married C C Blackadar
I know of only one child. He was named George and was my ancestor.

Emma & Francis M. Flowers were married in 1886. I am trying to find out what Emma's maiden name was.

Emma was born abt 1867-1868 in AL

Who are her parents????? Do I have two Emmas mixed up??

1935 NC Death Certificate says she is married to FM Flowers (ok) born 1854 (wrong) in Gastonia (ok - 1930 census living w/ dau in NC)
Father's name is George HARTIE/HARTER??? I can't find any info on him.

Several other family trees say her maiden name was also FLOWERS.... father is Levin & mother is Martha.
1860 census - Levin & Abner living w/ Wright Flowers (Barbour, AL)
1870 census - Levin, Martha, 1 brother, 2 sisters and EMMA born 1868 (Barbour, AL)
1880 census - Martha (widowed), 2 sisters and EMMA S. (Barbour, AL)
